READ The Bible, God DID get "nailed to the cross "...and He did that For YOU!!!!!!!! 1 Corinthians 2 :14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

Good question... but the only response you're gonna get from people who believe in that stuff is that Jesus is God, so essetially God did die.
Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either.

The mystery of Christianity is that God = Jesus = Holy Spirit. So in essence, he was on the cross.
Of course, if you believe in God. I don't, so think it's all academic philosophy anyway.
HOWEVER, as faith is a very personal thing, to insult a person's faith is really rude.

He did send Himself.
Jesus was God in the flesh.
Now He is God in heaven again.
Human sins required an earthly blood sacrifice.
He came to earth and Jesus and paid for our sins.
