i just threw up like 15 min ago. it mustve been something i ate, i cant put my finger on it. anyway, i want to know. after throwing up, is it best to drink something because wouldnt i be dehydrated? how long afterwards? how long afterwards can i eat in? i havent had any big meals since breakfast and its nighttime. i dont feel hungry but i feel if i dont eat at least a little, i'll faint from not having any food. how do you also get rid of that bad breath smell afterwards? if any doctors, med students, or anyone could answer this, i would appreciate any medical help, thank you

Don't brush your teeth for another hour or the acids will be pushed in further. Chew on antacids like tums instead. Try not to chew gum for a while. Drink as much water as your stomach can handle because yeah, you probablly are dehydrated now.
For your stomach, saltine crackers or other dry, slightly salty breads (toast) with some carbonated (but not sugary) beverage should get rid of the stomach upset. Other than that, lie down and let your body rest. When you're feeling better, eat or drink something with potassium like bananas or tomatos to help balance your electrolytes.

If you only threw up once, you are not in danger of dehydrating just yet. Your best bet is to lay down and put a cold wash cloth over your stomach. Believe it or not, this truly helps because your brain will concentrate on the coldness of the wash cloth and not your stomach hurting. Lay there for about a half an hour and see how you feel then.
To get rid of that bad taste in your mouth try sucking on a piece of peppermint candy. Peppermint is an excellent thing to eat or drink when your stomach is upset. Drinking a cup of hot peppermint tea may also help your stomach to feel better.
If you do eat something, eat bland stuff like a saltine cracker or 7 up or Gingerale or dry toast. Stay away from spicy, acidic foods or greasy foods for a day or so until you know that your feeling better about food. If however you should experience more vomiting thru out the night I strongly suggest that you seek medical treatment in the E.R. for you may have food poisioning.
Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon.

Whenever I throw up (which happens frequently- sensitive stomach) I get a rag and run it through cold water and place on my stomach make sure it's not like dripping wet. Then I go lay down in bed for half an hour and just rest until I feel better. Sometimes I rub my stomach instead if the cold rah which also feels good.

Drink gatorade, poweraide or any drink that has electrolites in it, those rehydrate you. eat some toast or crackers so you at least have some food in your stomach and they settle an upset stomach. Just brush your teeth to get rid of the bad breath. I'm not a doctor or anything but suffered from morning sickness and threw up all the time! Those worked for me.

unless you have been throwing up all day long...you wont' be dehydrated from throwing up just once...you proably feel weak and shaky because you just threw up...you can eat a little of something if you feel like it...try some toast..because it's easy on your stomach...you can eat right now if you would like...i personally wait until my stomach growls...that means it's starting to digest food..you can get rid of the bad breath by brushing your teeth....you can drink something like gingerale, 7up, or have some crushed ice cubes to keep you going...just don't over do it....you could also be getting the flu...it's that time of the year...get some rest and feel better

I would drink some water or ginger ale to help settle your stomach. Gatorade, ect is good. For food stick to something light such as totast with no butter or saltine crackers. Brush your teeth a nd use mouth wash for the smell. Has your stomach been bothering you and that is why you have not eaten?

The old fashion cure for this is 7UP (or Sprite) and chicken noodle soup. the seltzer in the 7up is good for the tummy and the lightness of the chicken noodle soup is easy to digest and wont upset the system. If you think chicken noodle is still to heavy then try chicken broth and maybe some saltine crackers. This is an old fashion remedy but it does work. and do drink lots of water. Your body needs 64 oz daily. Try to get that in before you load up on sodas or other drinks.

Just try tiny sips of water and when you are comfortable with that nothing acidic but gaduate to apple juice or gatorade as you are feeling better.........could be a bad meal just stomache upset caused by undigested food .......after you are better you may want to consider enzymes to help with digestion......also for bad breath after vomiting chew on dried parsley but do not swallow spit it out and rinse your mouth .....hope u feel better real soon!
