Actually your boyfriend wants to breakup but not sure he is ready to give you up yet, or maybe he is trying not to hurt your feelings, he is troubled inside and when something you say or do usually brings these feelings to the surface. It is probably because inside it is all turmoil. Sorry wish it was something else like maybe he already has a lady friend and having trouble making up his mind.

he could be struggling with depression or manic depression (bipolar disorder). encourage him to see a good therapist (or two) and good luck. not easy to live with or around someone with this mental disorder.
