The Dr of Stuff is the FAKE.
Fibromyalgia is a REAL condition, and it is under the umbrella of Arthritis, and some people need to get a EDUCATION and life, instead of belittling other people.

Jane please see a Rheumatologist and Endocrinologist, if your able too, as they will be able to assist you with pain
management.

I was given Neurontin (neuropathic and epileptic medication) medication, which helps a little with pain, I certainly sleep better with this medication. Neurontin is expensive here in Australia, so I use when the pain is real bad. I work as a carer and teacher, and it really is a struggle some days, to think clearly, when the pain has kept me awake most of the night.

I find that if I have a warm bath before bed helps, with a little Lavender & Chamomile oil added helps. Hubby gives me a massage when the pain is so bad that I cant sleep. Try using Ginger, Cyress and Lavender oil, mixed in with quality massage oil.

Hope this helps

Fibromyalgia is terrible but there are things that can help:

1) Omega 3's especially animal sources like fish or fish oil capsules. (about 3-6 large softgels a day.) Just get a good brand that filters out the metals) Great for the inflammation you have.

2) Black cherry juice. Again helps w/inflammation. Try 3-6 oz a day to start.

3) BCAA (Branch chain amino acids) for the needed proteins for strength. (500-1000 mg or more)

4) ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid) 300 -600 mg a day. This will help your neuropathy.

4) Super greens, like spirulina or chlorella. You can get in tablet or in a powder for making smoothies. The more the better. These are amazing. Once you get things under control you might just need this and the Omega 3s to maintain it all.

5) The wake up insomnia is likely due to a Magnesium (Mg) deficiency. Mg also can help with pain and some w/sugar balance.
If the Mg doesn't fully help some melatonin will help you immediately with the sleep issues. Try 1-3 mg 1-2 before bed.

Sleep is how our bodies repair themselves. You need this above all else. Below are a couple of links to some well-priced vitamin sources.

Try these as many as you can as you're able focusing on the sleep and pain. Once they're under control the sugar balance and others will be easier to maintain.
I wish you well :-)

after 5years 6 doctors-trips to huge medical centers in Boston-everytest know to mankind-and 3 different pain clinics. I finally found a doc who was willing to treat my pain with kadian(a type of morphine) low doses 2 times a day--I have never been better and can now function so much better--I have tried all the'natural' treatments''holistic' and every non narcotic pain med there is. I only know this is what I needed.I can now put my clothes on-get out of bed-and function-there is still pain but at a very tolerable level--and no I don't feel "doped ''at all-as a matter of fact when the pain was really bad-75% of the time-I couldnt think straight of hear or see-it was that dibilitating.
Try it all find what works for you.
I do yoga and meditation and massage-water aerobics-ect--along the way you will find the right mix of treatment for you.
PS TO ALL OF YOU WHO THINK FIBROMYALGIA IS FAKE--THERE ARE NEW STUDIES THAT SHOW IT MAY BE VIRAL!WATCH OUT.....

I feel as if I am talking to my mother! She is in almost the exact situation, except she takes 1 insulin & pills. She has had neuropathy for 10-12 years and fibromyalga has been passed on to most women in my family. She has a difficult time going anywhere, and often-to her embarassment-uses a wheelchair. She feel like crap most of the time, as I am sure you do...I wish there was some magic pill for the both of you...I did a little research and there are herbal supplements that are supposed to help. Concentrated cherry juice is one. You can get it from a healthfood store. I can't tell you if any work first hand. My mother wouldn't try any of them. Who knows though? It might be worth a try...

HOLY CRAP!!! does anyone know why "fibromyalgia" is such a new condition that people are getting now days? i'll tell ya. cause it does not exist. it is a catch all term for unexplained pain in the body. i see people diagnosed with this condition all the freakin time. they whine so much and then say they are out of their pain meds. oh, here is an idea. get off your lazy asses and move around and maybe that will help. people whine and say "oh, i can't work". then stand back when wal-mart has a sale cause they will run you over to get to the things they want to buy with their government assistance checks. which is usually ugly decorations for their mobile home or the discount cigarette aisle. remember though they can't do even a part time job. but they will be sure to be at the pharmacy on the 3rd or 4th of the month to get their narcotics prescriptions filled. ah heck, the more i type the madder i get. just get drunk and take some of those narcotics. you'll be fine in a little while.

I was diagnosed with this illness about eight yrs. ago, and I know that sometimes the pain is almost unbearable.
First of all, do you go to a rheumatologist? If not, you need to. they are specialists in this disease, as well as multiple sclerosis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.
I have scarring on the left side of my brain and they haven't ruled out multiple sclerosis for me yet.
All these diseases have simularities, and it's really hard to get a definate answer as to whats causing which pain.
I take a lot of different medicines prescribed by my rheumatologist, and one that might help your back is flexeril. It's a muscle relaxer. and it might help you sleep too. you also might need a good anti-inflamatory drug. I take something called mobic. I've also found that taking warm showers and just standing there and letting the water hit your back sometimes helps. I know with you being diabetic, you might not be able to take some meds., but it sure wouldn't hurt to talk to your doctor about it. and if you're not seeing a rheumatologist, please go to one. they can give you meds. to help with pain, trouble sleeping, inflamation, fever, muscle spasm, muscle twitching, etc.
you probably never have a pain free day, but things will get better for you. Just never give up. also try a heating pad for your back, and get someone to rub your back, that helps sometimes too.
I will keep you in my prayers. things are going to get better.

I know that it sounds weird, but try acupuncture. It works wonders for pain and the needles are so small that you hardly feel them at all. I speak from experience--acupuncture rocks. If you find a good acupuncturist who really knows his/her stuff, they can help with the pain, the sleep, and probably some of the other stuff as well. Give it a whirl.
