It's technically classified as fiction because the characters ARE fiction. People use that as a defense (and I'm not classifying EVERYONE as saying it) when discussing the book so they don't have to discuss the parts that are based on FACT.

For one the Da Vinci code is a fictional book. Their are some true facts like location of the plot. But as it being the book that can supposedly shed new light to the christian religion, no happening. That is why christians deny the Da Vinci code

The truth of the Da Vinci Code? The novel is a very interesting view, or theory. Unfortunatly it is also a fiction novel, even if a really good one. There is no factual proof in the Da Vinci Code, just a very creative story by an excellent writer. Dan Brown is a fantastic writer for getting you thinking, what could be?

Number one fact about most Christians: You will never meet a more close minded group of people ever...except the Muslims.
Regardless of whether it is true or not, the Di Vinci code is an entirely a work of fiction. Granted, it is based on some fo the finding of other historians, but that doesn't make it the truth.

"The Da Vinci Code" - by Dan Brown, being in fact an interpretive reproduction of another work "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" - by Michael Baigent, Richard leigh & Henry Lincoln; is only "so hotly contested" by the majority of the Christian Church because it attempts to deny the direct divinity of the person of Jesus. In fact, it is this same direct divinity that upset the ecclesial heirarchy and which ultimately turned into the majority charge against this same Jesus. In juxtaposition (incidentally), this same direct divinity is the same divinity that today's christianity claim as the significant factor in choosing one's Lord and God. So therefore, naturally anything said which detracts from that is going to "upset the apple cart". It is, sadly, why we who are of the christian faith, need our Lord so desperately.

The Bible is the only truth I need. You can not convince me that the Da Vinci Code is anything but fiction. I am praying for you.

Half of the stuff in da Vinci Code was ripped off another author. The other half is half truth from research. It's a load of crap to believe in, but supposedly a good read. I haven't gotten around to reading it myself, but that genre doesn't really appeal to me.

Ok, first I will be a Christian. Fact: The author admitted to making it up. That is their main argument.
Now I will be me. Most christian faith is so insecure that even a simple fiction book can shake it. This scares people like the pope who make money from these christian's donations.
My personal thought was that, 'heck, why can't it be true?' I mean the bible was put together 350 years after christ died at the council of Nicea, so why do we think the Bible is true? For these reasons, I made up my own religion.
