You should go for something that will give you some civilian skills. Not much demand for infantry in the civilian world.

I used to have about 2 dozen 11B's working for me, I was an Infantry Platoon Leader.
I'm going to guess here, and if I'm wrong, ignore my thoughts, but my guess is that you want to switch because of cutoff points to make E5 or E6. I saw that done once, an E5 left Signal to become Infantry, made E6 immediately, and was assigned to me as a Squad Leader.
He had two problems. One was that he didn't know jack about being Infantry, and the other was that he didn't know there was anything to know. He didn't know much, and suspected even less.
This got him into such serious trouble that he nearly got court-martialed, and would have if I'd had my way, but we're starting to digress.
Bottom line is that if you're switching because of the cutoff points, and you think that the lower cutoff points means that being Infantry is mentally easy, you're in for a lot of problems.
Now, if you want to switch for the job, that's another matter altogether. I enjoyed being Infantry, and wouldn't have been anything else. Airborne, and all that hooah-hooah.

Being an 11b is not for everyone. You will work harder and longer then anyone else. You will live worst then anyone else. You will be asked to bring hot chow to people and you will eat an MRE when doing it. But I love being an 11b. Would not ask for anything else. You will also deploy more then anyone unless you try to hide out and not. I am in Iraq now and this is my 5th deployment since the war started.

im in 11b the Pros: you get to shoot stuff and you get more money when deployed the and get some action in your life Cons: you could die or loose limb and go to war if you lucky you will live also if you do get in 11b and get deployed try to stay low and do not try too take all the dutys they offer you every time they give you R&R take it also tell your family or any one to buy you some extra armor like at least 11 kevlar vest and put were you sit in the hummv and put sandbags buy your legs and always try to get the sit in the back left and dont try to be a hero because this is real life one bullet will kill you.also just hope you go to afganistan.

Pros- sleep in the rain, walk all night for giggles, freeze in the winter sleeping on the ground, crawling in the mud, shoothing stuff, killing people, travel to different countries, long field problems, cleaning weapons, more inspection of uniforms and equipment, being away from your wife or girlfriend more often, and being more with the guys.
Cons- there is none.
11 Bravo is the way to go. Airborne Infantry would even be better

Why carry your weapon, when your weapon can carry you?
I used to be an 11B. I got smart. Now, I'ma 19K (M1A1 tanks). We have about the same promotions as the my ground pounding brethren but we don't sleep in the mud and we really get to blow stuff up and go really fast while doing it. Draw back is that when tanks break, it's some really butt busting work to get them fixed. I respect the 11bang bangs, and sometimes wish I could go back but when i see them covered in mud, sleeping on the ground and freezing while I make my coffee, i realize i made the right choice. Last Jan, here in Korea, we were at an FTX and it snowed (slushy). The grunts cam up to my tank so they could dry out their sleeping bags,,,IN JAN (-5 degrees). You do the math.

I hate the observed, it is a heavy weapon to maintain on you 24/7 for the entire time you're deployed. I carried one and that i by no potential observed wrestle, yet I nevertheless hated donning it. I doubt my opinion might replace if I observed wrestle, so long that somebody in my team/Squad had a observed. The weapon itself is priceless to a Squad, yet I do exactly no longer decide for to be the guy donning it.
