Yes, you can still care for him. He should be eating soft food...make a cereal out of it with warm water. Once the dog food soaks up the water it will be plenty soft for him to eat it. My small breed puppies are on this cereal when they are 3 weeks, so I know he should be fine. Insead of water, you can also use Esbilac. I don't know if she has any info on caring for orphaned puppies, but try www.debbiejensen.com Good luck!

You already have some excellent answers, and there's not much I can really add except bless your heart for being so caring. Most people would have just called Animal control back to come get the missing puppy. The owner must have been really abusive if Animal Control took all the dogs.

I hope everything turns out and the pup has a long healthy life. Good luck and best wishes to you both.

First of all you need to take him to the vet as soon as possible because you don't know what he's been exposed to. Most vet offices and animal hospitals have food for young pups like him that have been winged to early of their mother. But he should be fine as long as you get him to the vet to be checked out. He more than likely is wormy like most pups his age will be and he probably has never had a trip to the vet. . And he is old enough to have received his first stage of puppy deworming. Also very important to not let him be outside. Reason? Because pups that are still very young can catch the deadly parvo virus and die. They contract the virus from going behind other dogs and where they poop. In a few weeks he will be old enough to begin his first series of parvo and distemper shots. But the vet will keep you and your little guy a visit schedule to make sure he stays healthy. Your very lucky. Rotties are a very good breed of dog and make great family pets. HE CAME TO YOU FOR A REASON. So keep him. Good luck. Keep us up to date on him.

hi

depending on how old it is, you will need either replacement milk or weaning formula.

A breeder I have talked to, when puppies are rejected, used Just Born (milk) and the breeders who dont use raw either fed Natural Balance for puppies that are weaning or 2nd step weaning formula for puppies coming off milk. Do not use cow/goat milk as this will make the puppy sick.

You may want to start clipping nails. DO NOT GET GUILLOTINE as this will make your life hard.

Vet exam is a must. Ask about vaccines since most vets not in it for money will not vaccinate every year. Also this will help with the name just incase he is a she.

Start training as soon as (s)he can walk properly. Makes life easy. Get a book on rotties. Not all dogs train the same and a book will really help.

I plan on breeding in the future and this is a great site!!!!

Obviously you can skip some steps lol

There is a big difference between 4 and 6 weeks in a puppy. If he has teeth then he can have dry puppy food. You should take him to a vet who can help you determine his age and what to feed him. Also, at 6 weeks he needs a check-up anyway. Never give a dog any bones no matter what you hear and keep table scraps at high protein foods, no fillers. Good Luck and thanks for being his hero!

Hi! What you need to do is go to the store like a petsmart or pet store and get it puppy milk this will replace the natural nutrients that he is not getting since he is not with his mom. Feed him like every couple hours. When he is older and is not wanting to drink the milk anymore get it a puppy food and just put a little bit in some water to make it mushy or you can blend it up for him to eat since he really does not have any teeth.
Hope he ends up fine!
Have had 2 litters of puppies before

I trust portion of a pre-published answer. If the puppy exchange into presented to the already settled dogs inappropriately--whether that is in basic terms a puppy or no longer does not rely--then violence is in many circumstances envisioned. subsequently, regrettably, dying occured. this does not advise the dogs in question is vicious. dogs are no longer human beings; they see, interpret, and learn issues in any different case. you will possibly desire to first verify into distinctive running shoes domestically, and get diverse observations carried out. it can't be malevolency from the dogs in any respect yet an proprietor errors. come across different suggestions earlier killing the dogs, a minimum of this form you will possibly have valid motives for terminating the animal fairly than asserting, "I hate it! i think of that is valueless! Kill it!"

Aww, the poor pup. Of course my mind went blank out of all times when I'm trying to think of a good website.
Since he is so young, feed him wet dog food. No hard stuff. If he refuses to eat that he may not have been weaned meaning taken off milk yet and he may want a bottle.
He will be a big dog so be prepared. Don't give him baths yet, only when he atleast two months.
GOod luck!

He should be just fine, although you neglected to mention the puppy's age, but beware because he will grow into a very large dog. He'll need something to call his own to chew on and he'll need puppy chow, and a lot of attention

How sweet of you. Get him some puppy milk from the petstore. Keep him warm and love the heck out of him. I had to the same and would do it again. Are you gonna keep him? If you do you have a real friend. Good luck.
