My cat was terrified of ceiling fans, too. I let her get used to them in her own slow way. Gradually, she got less afraid and now she ignores them. Don't make it into a power struggle. Don't force your cat to do anything. Just act normally and she'll come to see that there's nothing to fear.

I don't know the real answer to your question, but I am a Mensa....and I will try and get your problem resolved.

First of all, if the ceiling fan is on all the time it should not have a bearing to your paranoid cat.

Secondly, If the cat just runs and scatters suddenly after you turn on the fan...the cat could be scared of the sudden reaction of what the fan sounds like.

And lastly, If all fails...try giving the cat some Katnip, or Morphine.

Consider viewing a ceiling fan from the floor.

Next consider how a bird of prey such as a hawk or an eagle look from the ground.

My guess is pretty similar and your cat is just exhibiting survival tendencies.

forcing her to sit under a ceiling fan will not help her...it will only stress her out more...

what you need to do is put her food fairly close to the fan so when she eats and feels happy she will slowly be happier about the fan. DONT have it turned high.. do this with her soft/canned food only - leave her access to her dry all the time in her regular place
