I have 2 dogs both rescues that we have had for 3 years each, they are both 4 and 4 1/2 years old. They were crate trained and house broken when we first got them and now they stay in their own room that has a tile floor, they did not have major accidents in the house untill recently. Now almost every night one of them will unirinate or poop in a section of the room. We have the on a regular schedule of going out in addition to feed regularly, We also take up the water at night.
We also praise them when they come in from going bathroom, and give them a treat.
If you have any suggestions as to how to retrain them against it or any reasons you might think.
Thanks so much

Two options:

1. Any changes to your routine, like working later (or different) hours? This can upset them and make them miss you and/or be mad at you.

2. Is there any new construction, loud noises, or new loud neighbors that could be scaring them? New dogs in the neighborhood barking might do it as well.

I guess there's also a third option of illness, so take them to your vet to eliminate that possibility.

Good luck, give them some hugs! I'm sure they will appreciate it!!

Firstly, were they on this schedule for a while with no problems? If the schedule worked for them in the past and suddenly they are using the bathroom inside, I'd take them to the vet. They may have a bladder infection or something medically wrong. Once that's eliminated then you can focus on behavioral issues.

I really think this is more of a medical reason than a behavioral one as you do praise them and give them treats for doing their business outdoors.

What does she poop on while she's interior? Does she go on the carpet or hardwood flooring? Designate her very own little section outdoors top next to the homestead and build a fence around it to make like her very own little inner maximum "indoor like" surrounding. Then lay down the two carpet or some low value frustrating flooring. this could sound stupid yet while she is obsessed with going interior and on the carpet then grant her some thing outdoors like this. It would not sound like the subject isn't any count in case you walk her sufficient, it appears that evidently like the subject is after she pees she is quite insistant and tries truly frustrating to flow back interior. She would not like being outdoors for some reason. perhaps she relates it with some thing truly undesirable and desires to be in all of the time. solid luck inclusive of your toddler. I do wish you get this worked out. i'm so chuffed she has now got here upon an exceptionally loving homestead. :)

When dogs are left alone, they get depressed and show it. Usually this is how they show it. Try leaving them out and alone they might chew or poop in your shoes and bed. Spend more time with them.
