It had like a devil's food cake mix in the bottom, but it was in a pie plate not a cake pan, and then it had a thick layer of like chocolate heavy whipping cream, with almonds and mini marshmallows mixed into it with a chocolate syrup drizzled on top. I can't find this recipie ANYWHERE and my mom used to make it for Christmas, but she's passed on, and now I can't find it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I think your mom( bless her soul) had modified a basic recipe to suit your family taste.

I've found one recipe which uses devils mix I'm posting it so that you may have an idea of the weights and baking time. Why don't you modify the filling to what you remember your mother doing and see how it turns out.

1 pk Devil's food cake mix
½ c Butter or margarine --
Melted
¼ c Brown sugar
⅓ c Water
2 Eggs
1 c Nuts -- chopped
3 c Miniature marshmallows
¾ c Chocolate ready to spread
Frosting
¼ c Nuts -- coarsely chopped
Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour 13 x 9 pan. Mix half of the cake mix, margarine, brown sugar, water and eggs in large bowl until smooth. Stir in remaining cake mix and 1 cup nuts. Spread in pan. Bake 20 minutes. Sprinkle marshmallows evenly over top. Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until marshmallows are puffed and golden brown. Heat frosting in 1 qt saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until thin. Drizzle over top; sprinkle with 1/4 cup nuts. Cool completely. Cut into 1 3/4" squares. Lemon Ice comes to mind, a "fake" ice cream with no real caloric substance---a sorbet that is often served at pretentious gourmet multi-course dinners between the fish course (and there is something quite fishy about Romney, Cain, et al.) and the meat course in order to cleanse the palate. The "Black Walnut" to which Cain likens himself is a DISCONTINUED flavor, by the way.
