My daughter is 8 1/2 yrs old and she wears a 10-12. It mostly depends on the outfit itself. In some clothes, she can still wear an 8, but theres been a few that she needed a 14.

my daughter(8) will be 9 in january and wears a size 3 and my other daughter(10) will be 11 in february and she wears a size 7 and a half. the younger one is slightly short and the older one is slightly tall. since one is 8 and and the other is 10 I averaged out their shoe sizes to be about a size 5 but this could vary widely.

It really has nothing to do with age. There is no fixed size. And at that age children are generally a bit out of proportion. To feel there is a proper size can only cause concern when your child does not wear that size. And it is a false concern.
