Please don't respond to the question below with biblical reasons. Divorce rates are so high, religion is a rediculous excuse.
Why is gay marriage illegal?
Is the only reason blatant prejudice?
Who I marry has not bearing on your life. Why do you care so much that you insist on making it illegal while your own religious reasons for marriage seem to have been rendered null and void by half of you that marry.

I don't see anything wrong with gay marriage personally. I don't understand why they act that way. Preaching love and forgiveness, then threaten to beat someones head in. I like everyone (that is respectful), for me it doesn't matter what your background is, what sexual partner you want, if your a nice person and respectful, I will be your friend. I get along with people from all walks-of-life, as long as they are caring. If someone is a nice, good-heart person, that never harms anyone, thats all that matters to me. If someone shows disrespect then I dismiss them pretty quickly from my life, I don't have time for shallow and closed minded people. Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion and should surround themselves with positive people, that they get along with. But don't preach about love and forgiveness if you can't walk in that light yourself. Try getting to know people and loving them from who they are, get rid of the preconceived notions.

The reason why the divorce rate is high is because People Marry for the wrong reasons and not what God intended Marriage all about. I been in a Christian Marriage for the last 4 years with my Christian Godly husband. There are times we argue, fight, disagree and have spats about stuff. However, we work things out withen a few days after the spat maybe a few hours. Not all Marriages are a Happy Marriage and if we didn't have fights arguements and disagreements with each other then our Marriage wouldn't be Normal.
Now for the Gays and Lesbians I don't want a child to come up to me and say why are those two same sex couples kissing and hugging each other.
Come on People I am not prejudice against them Marrying however, God didn't attend the same sex couples to marry.
Oh yea Evulotion is a false lie from Satan to get people minds of the truth of the Lord and his Bible and his Church and Prayers.

You can have a ceremony and say you are married all day so it is not illegal. That is not the real goal. What you want is to force everyone else to say that it is alright. Sorry, but most people don't which is why it has lost in 17 states.
I personally am an atheist and really don't care either way, but you guys hide the real goal. It would force businesses to give you benefits that they really could have a moral problem with. You would also be forcing the taxpayer into paying survivor benefits when the vast majority of the tax paying base is against it. That isn't right.
Do you really think that gay marrage will help these numbers? I'm just guessing, but I doubt it.

Marriage is a religious practice. The government (in the US) has no right to interfere with religious practices so long as they do not violate the rights of other people.

So, if the law allowed you to have a perverted marriage, that would end all divorces?
With that logic-it should be okay to shoot gays if we can not convert them to a normal lifestyle.

I personally don't condemn anyone for wanting to get married whether they are heterosexual or homosexual. To each his/her own. Love is love between consenting adults.
