That your on a emotional high not one that is drug induced. My answer refers to the Manic side of Manic Depressive. Your at the peak and everything great although a few minutes you may crash
and feel so low. You may stay at a heightened emotional level for several hours or days but in time you crash.
If you or someone you know reaction or have symptoms like that they need professional help.

In addition to the official definitions provided, those experiencing mania may have compulsions, risky behaviors, be overly sexual, waste money (like shopping too much), be overly energized and not sleep for days, do stuff like rearrange all the furniture and clean everything all night for days, talk too fast and think too fast/not be able to catch their thoughts, and think that they're smarter than they are and are capable of super things (delusions of greatness). These are typical mania symptoms.
Yes, mania is often a part of bipolar disorder, where periods of mania usually alternate with periods of depression. However, you only need one manic episode in your whole life to be classified as Bipolar. You may not have alternating moods in this case, you may go your whole life without another mania, but you are still Bipolar 1.
Hypomania is a less drastic mania where someone feels energized, has extra bounce, might shop/do more risky things, and feel smart. Basically a hypomania is like a mania only the symptoms are reduced. Hypomania happens to people who are Bipolar 1 and Bipolar 2.

It is scrubbing the shine off the linoleum kitchen floors because you clean it so long and hard. It is shopping for 6 months straight until you end in bankruptcy. It is talking so nonstop your jaw hurts. It is feeling like you are on top of the world, a natural high, no pain. It is running 10 miles when you have never ran one mile. It is being dangerous such as stalking the person who stole your husband. Yes, I have bipolar. These have been my mania experiences.

Mania is a medical condition characterized by severely elevated mood. Mania is most usually associated with bipolar disorder, where episodes of mania may cyclically alternate with episodes of depression. (Note: not all mania can be classified as bipolar disorder, as mania may result from other diseases or causes. However, bipolar disorder is the "classic" manic disease.)
