You are going to the wrong places.Yes one of the first churches I went to the preacher talked about long hair being a sin. I was young, but knew that this guy was a nut. I lived in San Diego once and was suprised when I went to a very large church of about 5000 members. They had a young preacher that preached three services each sunday morning because only about 2000 could fit inside at once. You had to look real hard to find an old person. I'm sure the old people talked about it, saying things like,' Why does it seem that the only people who go to church are young.

I think you have a very valid point there. It is few and far between as far as the youth going to Church but, did you see some of the footage from the last two youth days with Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI? They were just jammed so it depends on the Church I'd say. Every Church has the majority in elderly though. They have the smallest window of opportunity for Holiness.

Well....I live in Australia...10minutes away from ''Hillsong''.
Where thousands, yes thousands of young people go to church at the same time.
It just great!
Find a ''Hillsong''...where you are?....they do pop up...and if you show
interest your parents will be happy....
Otherwise, debate things with your parents, after each service...let them know you need a younger church.I think you will surprized.....
Parents do understand some times....and pray about it too.
I know what your saying...about the preacher....
Tattoos are against God ....blue green hair isn't....and multiple or even one piericing is against God....But that would take a fair while to explain why?
I love blue and green hair sometimes!

That has not been my experience, I am happy to say. I'm sure there are churches like that, but the one I grew up in has a substantial amount of young people, and they don't preach things like that. I am also visiting various churches as sort of a project, so I guess I'll see if I run into that. But I probably won't, because most of the churches I will probably visit are located in a college town.

Old people go because they want to go to Heaven when they die... and it's approaching fast. The reason why younger people don't go is because they get preached to about crap from someone who lives in the stone age. If churches were more into what goes on in this day and age, more people in general would go. In my opinion, expressing yourself with blue hair or tattoos has nothing to do with God and what you believe. Has this preacher ever met God and asked him about hair?

It's a shame but it does seem your right, must be we get wiser with age, or in the retired years old folks have enough time to actually read there bibles after they dust um off, saw a bumper sticker once that read "If your living as if there is no God, you better hope your right!" how spiritually immature us young ones are! ps don't think wearing blue hair will send you to hell if that were true half them ol church ladies are in BIG trouble!

We have people of all ages at my church. We wear blue jeans, some have tatoos and piercings. There are cool churches out there- don't give up. Next time you hear a preacher preaching about the aforemention sins, ask him if he sins? If he says no, he's a liar and if he says yes, tell him to focus his sermons on his sins and not those of the younger generation.

Old people go more because they done all the damage they can do and they figure they may as well try to get forgiveness with the time they have left. The preacher might pick on you because he doesn't want to upset his regular paying members. Trust me its not like that at all churches, some churches embrace their younger members and welcome their differences and manage to teach the Bible and not beat you with it, hope that you find that church

There are plenty of young people at my church. In fact, the average age in the church I attend is about 45. I'm sure if you checked it out you would be able to find a church with a younger congregation.

Not in my church - there are more young people than old. You shouldn't be forced to go to a church that doesn't 'work' for you, or make you happy. I hope you can find one where you'll fit in and find true happiness in sharing God's love.
