I have taken vacation pictures with quality on my digital camera set on VGA and 2MB. Is there a way to improve the quality of those pictures to say 7MB+?

it can be done, not as drastically as you want, though. it's called interpolation or 'uprezing' (meaning upping the resolution) and can be done in photoshop or with special software dedicated to that task. not sure what the other programs are called, but do some searches and you should be able to find out.

doing this is NOT as good as it would be to simply take the picture at a higher resolution since you can't really add detail that isn't there to begin with, but a lot of people claim that it helps at least a little.

check this out for example -

you can try it and see if it works....can't promise anything.....

Lighting is the key to great looking pictures. Always provide enough light. Remember that your eyes are far better than the digital camera so you'll have to adjust. Seeing that your problem is on the bright side, I recommend you use Exposure Control (EV). When a picture comes out too bright, push EV down a bit and shoot again. Adjust and shoot further until you get the desired result. Do not delete the test shots as you may like them better when you see them in the computer. If the first shot was underexposed, too dark, do the opposite and raise EV.

Nope. Just keep your print size kind of small, like about 3x5 and they will be acceptable.

Now that it's too late, I ALWAYS shoot at full resolution, no matter how casual I think the pictures will be, just to avoid being in the situation you are in. You never know when you will find a really great picture hiding in the middle of a casual shot.

you can shrink picture sizes on your computer,I'm sure you can make them bigger, but there going to look REALLY crappy. always take pictures are full resolution, if that's only 2mp, it's time to get an upgrade
