Of course it hurts. But it's like getting your ears pierced. For just that couple of seconds it hurts and then it's over. You would go to a trusted tattoo shop or body piercing studio. If you get this done make sure to clean the area properly the piercer will explain this to you.Make sure they open up a clean needle in front of you as well.It will be a little sore for about a week and then you won't even know it's there.

They do hurt, but the pain is totally worth it. They also take a really long time to heal.

Normally, you could go to any place that offers Tattoo's. However, you want to do your homework before you pick a shop, so do some shopping around and some research.

Visit a few tattoo and piercing parlors. Now, this is where you take notes.

Talk to the person who would be doing the piercing, and see how nice they are. You want to atleast meet the person first. I mean seriousally, would you want someone that you'd never met, let alone hadnt gotten the chance to trust shoving a piece of metal through your skin? Probably not. If the piercer is too busy to talk to you at the moment, then wait around a little while, and if they don't come out to meet you, then thats probably not the place you want to be.

Every piercer should care about their customer, and be willing to meet a new client as soon as they can.

Ask the piercer how they would do the piercing, ask to see the barbells, and the equpitment they would use. Also, another good question to ask is how they sterilize the equiptment.

Another thing to look at is how clean the shop is. If it looks dirty, or if the piercer himself looks dirty, then you probably shouldn't get the piercing done there.

The place I went when I got my first piercing was actually hair salon, and the first thing I looked for was cleanliness. I looked to make sure the floors were clean and swept, and I made sure that the lady doing my piercing was clean and professional looking.

Nine times out of ten, these people have to be licensed to have their shop open, and in order to keep their license they have to keep things clean and follow certain guidelines.

Most of the time, the piercer will be extremely friendly and outgoing towards you, and if this is the case, and you like the person, then by all means, get your piercing done by them.

My cousin recently got her bellybutton done. She said it didn't hurt, it's just the process of it that scares you. All you feel is a tight pinch. You can get one at a local tattoo/piercing parlor. If you're a minor - you will need your parents. I'm not sure if you are though- but it's a reminder. :]

Belly button piercings are a type of body piercing, far more common among women than men, where the skin surrounding the belly button is pierced and jewellery is inserted. Depending on the amount of skin available for piercing, it may heal quickly and with few problems, like an ear piercing, or it may heal more like a surface piercing, with the associated rejection risks and extended healing time. Healing of this piercing can also be complicated by irritation and damage caused by clothing, especially waistlines or tight clothing, or the position of the navel relative to the bend of the waist. The actual belly button is not pierced when a navel piercing is performed. The most common form of belly button piercings are through the upper rim of the navel. True belly button piercings requires the person being pierced to have an "outie" navel to some degree, and is extremely rare.

They do not hurt as bad as you think, try pinching your beely button where you pierce it, there is nont much feeling. I would go to the nearest piercing or tattoo parlor. Make sure that they use sterile equipment. If you are under 18, take a parent. If this helps please choose best answer.

they don't really hurt because they're over with so quickly, and you can usually get them done at a tattoo parlor.
just be sure that it's something you really want, and if you decide to do it, check around for a place that's very, very clean and has a staff of people that know what they're doing.

The piercing hurts, and it will get infected if it is pierced too far inside the navel.

I would not recommend it.
I do acupuncture and the top of the navel is digestion and the bottom is the reproductive acupuncture points and these are very sensitive and can effect your entire body.
