Most Muslims exist over seas in the reclusive and closed Islamic countries, but Muslims living in free countries are free to propagandize scared westerners.
Some Muslims in the west are something like the "fallen away agnosticish catholic" but because of silly pathetic ethnic pride (and fear), voracisously defend Islam.
To those very few Muslims who we might call "moderate" or "non-literalist", let me ask you, do you really think you do humanity a service by trying to apologize for the violent hate doctrines of Islam?
Seriously, have you ever though of dealing with the root problem itself?

You cannot change the Qua ran because its the word of Allah and Allah wants you to kill innocent people. See Qua ran 8:12, 8:15-18, 8:80, 8:85, 9:5, 9:3, 9:14, 9:29, 9:73, 9:123, 47:4,
It started with Mohammed and has not stopped till the present day. Islam was forced on ppl with threat. It was either to accept Islam or die. Who would in the face of death not convert? Maybe Muslims should read their own true history for a change and wake up dreaming. Muslims kill Muslims too, so what makes them different from other Religions. Where are the apologies for killing Christians in the past and even today. Where are the apologies from Muslims for 9/11. Christians acknowledge their past, learned from it. Christianity does not preach violence. There is no war in the name of God.
If you are a peacful Muslim why don't you stand up to the wrong teaching of the Quaran. Free yourself!

I have thought about dealing with the root problem numerous times.
and the root of the hate crimes as you call it lies in ignorance.
ignorance=improper education of religious values and human rights.
no other religion in the world speaks against people who cause havoc on earth as harshly as Islam does.
the only warring allowed in Islam is in self defense of basic human rights in the practice of ones religion.
and not only that, but in wars, muslims are not allowed to kill civilians and stay away from harming those who are innocent and are not in the fight with equal terms.
the current wave of fanaticism is a serious problem that needs to be addressed and as far as I know, religious bodies are trying their best to calm down the masses who get riled up by mass medias way of portraying such small things as cartoons.
as the facts are however, most of the people who are full of hate for the west and those who hold on to western values, do so because they believe the west is responsible for the deaths of the poor muslims in countries like iraq and palestine.
too much sociological undercurrent I must say.
therefore it will not be easy to solve.

There is no violence in the Quran, the interpreters are ones at fault. Most of the laws can be interpreted in different ways, and the smart Mullahs do that to suit their agendas.
What is needed is education, awareness that there is another way of living, and that you will not go to hell if you live life peacefully, that there are no 72 or whatever virgin houris for violent martyrs.
I am not a Muslim.

who says we muslims in the west justify Quran's violence? First of all it's not the Quran's violence, is the damn countrie's violence. Second of all, why are you hating on us, we are American too and we are just as pisst as you for what those extrememists are doing. We supporst our troops and all but we still have pride for being muslim like people have pride being catholic or gay or whatever the hell you are. Look at all the muslim's points of views, not just the evil ones before you make dumb opinions and hate on us.

islam is not just a religion, it's also a way of life and of government. islam rules the land. any questions or concerns are irrelevant. the children, men and women participate and believe. I'd say you're fighting a losing battle.

It is rarely the religion that is the problem. It is people's interpretations of it that cause such violence. Islam and the Quran do not advocate violence and terrorism, though this is how many people choose to interpret it.
