A lot of people know now about the Gracie Jiu jutsu. This is not the 90s anymore. Martial artists have evolved. If the two ever fought, these days, I'd go with Chuck Lidell. He's more well rounded and can knock you out fast.

He's very talented but he also cheats. Gracie has tested positive for Nandrolone an anabolic steroid in the past. According to the California State Athletic Commission, the average person can produce about 2 ng/mL of Nandrolone, while an athlete following rigorous physical exercise could have a level of around 6 ng/mL. Both A and B test samples provided by Gracie had a level of over 50 ng/mL and were informed that the level itself was so elevated that it would not even register on the laboratory's calibrator. Who compares to Royce? How about Kazushi Sakuraba or Matt Hughes or even his brother Rickson Gracie. However, the contribution of Royce Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to the mixed martial arts world and fighting in general cannot be overstated. MMA would not be the same without it, that's for sure.

Royce Gracie is a MMA pioneer and will always have my respect, but he can't compete with the talent in modern MMA.

Chuck Liddell is the no.1 205 pounder in the world and Royce just can't compete with him.

You can't really compare them. Royce was the pioneer, he proved his style of Brazilian Ju Jitsu was the superior form in the beginning of the Ultimate Fighting Championship's 1-5. Fighters copied his style and incoorporated that style into their own and this was the basis for all future Ultimate Fighting Championships. We are now in UFC 64 of course the fighters now are going to be superior -- they have built upon the Gracie's styles and have improved it a bit. Chuck Liddel is the better fighter today and on top of that he is younger and stronger.

Chuck Liddell is my pick.

Royce Gracie is old news now. He hasn't evolved like everyone else has to MMA

Liddell, because Royce may have been the best at the first 1 or 2, but everyone has since evolved due to his message of cross-training.
