I live in Sydney, and I'd like to go interstate for a week in Christmas. My parents have agreed to take me somewhere, my choice, but we have to take my little brother too (he's only 20 months old), and we'd have to take a car seat.

It's a debate between Perth or Brisbane, but my parents are leaning towards Brisbane, because they say Perth is quite boring, I'd rather go somewhere slow and quiet though. Sometimes, Sydney is a bit too much.

I have relatives in both states, but I'd really like to go to Perth (I have cousins I want to visit, but don't want to use that as my reason). I've been to both states before.

My parents are really touristy, and want to take me to Brisbane (to go to the beaches, Movie world etc.) but I'm not a sunbathing beachy type person, I value my pale skin, and if I go the Movie world, etc, I'll have no one to go with.

What do I say to my parents to subtly convince them to take me to Perth? (Reasons why Perth is a better tourist destination)

Brisbane about 10 hours in the car --nice city nice people lot of theme parks near it
Perth about 4/5 days in the car--nice place & people too but a long boring drive but you get to see a lot of australia

depends on if you want a short trip or a long one

If u only have a week and u drive then forget Perth! it will take You 4 days. Driving at night on the nullabor is VERY dangerous due to the variety of large animals that r on the road. I have driven over and back from Adelaide three times in the last 10 years and the road kill is unbelievable! One trip there was twelve (12) dead camels on the side of the road, hit by a road train! It is a really great drive but u need lots of time.
PS Perth is better than Brisbane!

Perth is drier than Brisbane during Christmas time. I mean, even the air is drier in Perth then. After walking for 20 minutes in Brisbane, I got wet clothes due to the humid and hot air. However, in Perth I sweat less often although summer in Perth is as hot as that in Brisbane.

If you go south, there are some good places in WA and these are cooler than Perth. For instance, Margaret River, Albany, Bridgetown, Bunker Bay, etc.

Thus, how about telling your parents that humid and hot air in Brisbane may induce rashes on your little brother's delicate skin? You can consequently enjoy less crowded but still fascinating beaches, forests and islands in WA.

Perth isn't. Brisbane is the best.
