Many cats continue to do this kneading or "making bread" all their lives when they are content and enjoying interaction with you.

Yes, that is called kneading. It means that they are happy. Kittens knead against their mother to nurse so they repeat this behavior when they are happy. My cat used to lie on my chest and knead me, LOL.

They are kneading, getting themselves into their "zone". They do this to comfort themselves, remembering when they did this on their mom when they were feeding. It's a compliment, really, that they are comfy and happy.

they like the feel of the blanket. my cat does this right before she lies on it and sleeps it makes her happy

they are doing like they did to their mom;s breasts to get milk; . it just means they are happy and relaxed around you.. my cats do it all the time. they do it then fall asleep next to me........
