The Trojan War was a war waged, according to legend, against the city of Troy, in Asia Minor (present-day Turkey). The war is among the most important events in Greek mythology and was narrated in many works of Greek Literature, of which the two most famous are th Illiad and the Odyssey of Homer.
Troy, the ancient city of Ilium. The traditional location of Homeric Troy, Turkish Truva, in Hisarlick in Anatolia, close to the seacoast in what is now Çanakkale province in northwest Turkey, southwest of the Dardanelles, under the Mount Ida.

Go with James - the concept of nations covering large areas and many cities is not universal, even today (think Vatican City, the world's smallest sovereign nation). Troy was a city-state, probably in modern Turkey, though only disputed archaeological has been found to date. The story was written by Homer, and may or may not be entirely true, meaning the Trojan horse is possibly a myth.

The Trojans were not Greeks, but yes they did live in present-day Turkey.

They don't really have a nationality per se, other than Troy.

Ilium (Troy) was the city-state. They were, like the Athenians, Corinthian, Spartans, Boetians, Thracians, and other city-states part of the Greek world. Nationalities were not what they are today. Agamemnon, Ajax, Diomede, Idomeneus, Menelaus, Nestor, Odysseus, Phoenix, and Priam were all Kings. If not for the bargain that Odysseus had suggested to protect the man that Helen chose (Agamemnon), and if Paris had not whisked Helen away, there would not have been a War. And it was a heck of a war. Achilles was only 6 when the war started, and was 16 when the action of the Iliad picks up.
