I quit smoking 2 days ago, and my breathing has been extremely wheezy lately, especially during bedtime.
I've also been coughing A LOT!

Is this something normal that will eventually pass?

Yes it is very normal, the body is eliminating all of the nicotine that has been choking down your lungs during the time you have been smoking.
It may also be considered "Satan" trying to get you to pick the cigarettes back up to stop the wheezing and coughing. . .DON'T GIVE IN ! ! ! !
It is said that getting off of cigarettes is like trying to get off of heroin and if heroin addicts can kick the habit,so can you and I.
I gave them up for 46 days with the help of nicotine gum and desire but had a moment of stupidity and smoked a whole pack in less than a day.
The next day I started over again and made 30 days and screwed up again BUT I have set another date for stopping and this time I am going to stick to it.
I gave up drinking over 10yrs ago and tho the temptation is there on some days I know what to expect if I start drinking again and now I know what to expect if I pick up cigarettes again.
My breath tasted better,my hair smelled cleaner,my car smelled better and my home had just started to smell better.
I can tell that I cough more when on the nasty things and all in all,I wish I had NEVER started the nasty habit.
Though we give up smoking there is still the chance we might develop emphysema and God Forbid but I was the one who made the decision to smoke 36yrs ago at the age of 17 and I regret that today.
Back then they could only tell us that cigarettes were not good for you. . no details.
Today we know what cigarettes can do to us and we are FOOLS if we continue to smoke knowing what we know.

I commend you for your efforts. Keep up the GREAT job.

coughing after smoking cessation is a good sign. that just means that smoking didn't do permanent damage to your lungs. the phlegm you will be coughing up is your lungs' natural way of getting rid of the toxins (tar and such) that built up in there while you were a smoker.

the coughing will pass. just don't give up- stay strong. quitting smoking is the BEST thing you did for your health.

Body produces mucus in lungs because smoking dries them up, when you quit it takes time for the body to quit putting mucus in the lungs, so for a while you have mucus for no reason, and it makes you cough. It will eventually go away.

first off i give u high five for quitting smoking. The lungs should clear up quickly. The smokers cough is really annoying i know this. But i really so happy for you as you will have better lungs and will breath better soon.Your coughing will pass its got to take time as the nicotine is still in the lungs. You will spit up alot of yucky phylem this is normal.Your lucky my nephew had to stop smoking as he had a hole in his lung from smoking and hes 29 yrs old.He is now breathing better and some of the lung has healed and the hole in his lung almost recovered. So please dont go back to smoking and slowly killing yourself.

When I quit that didnt happen, maybe going outside and getting some fresh air will help, or maybe it has to do with needing more protein, water, or some other nutrient . ..try to ask your intuition about if it's a nutrient deficiency. . .I think there's a lot of niacin in tobacco so you might be craving a source of niacin, try to relax and rest and have faith

Yep. Smoking paralyzes the cilia in your lungs and allows all kinds of crap to accumulate there. Once you stop they begin to recover, and things will mobilize and you will cough them out. Gross huh?

It's normal for your lungs to try and clear themselves for
awhile. The wheezing is probably the clearing slightly laying on
your vocal cords.

you are probably sick, and it has nothing to do with quitting.
or all the mucus in your lungs and throat are clearing up.
