Next week is our "step up Sunday" at church and all the teens teach the Sunday school classes. I am teaching the 0-2 class. There are not many in this class. They are mostly around the age of 2. They love to do "hands on" things and love to be involved.

Just trying to get some ideas. I don't want to just keep them occupied. I want to teach them something, but I want them to have alot of FUN doing it! =) Any ideas would be appreciated! =) Thanks

We shared Jonah and the Whale story; VeggieTales has a movie out. We've been teaching the lyrics every week "Walking in God's Way".

As an activity and snack in one take cool whip and put it in a ziploc bag. Add blue food colouring, drop in some gummy fish and instant ocean. Then give them a spoon and dig in.

You can also cut out cardboard circles, punch a small hole and use ribbon to make a medallion necklace; the kids can decorate with stickers, markers, glitter (gets messy - fyi), dried macaroni, etc... This is their Medal of Courage. Jonah needed courage to listen to his calling; we can remember to wear our Medal and turn to the Lord for courage.

They're pretty young and not going to retain alot. Keep it fun and simple.

Do you guys have an oven you could use for a bit? Pick up some Sculpey clay--it comes in all colors or you could just get white to paint later, and isn't very expensive--I usually buy a 1.75 pound box of white for $10, which I imagine is FAR more than you'd need. A couple small blocks, which usually run a couple bucks each, should be sufficient. It's easy to find at any craft store, like Michael's; I usually buy the big boxes at Meijer, our local Walmartlike store, so it's findable elsewhere too.

Round up some cookie cutters, roll it out flat, and let them cut out shapes. Poke holes in the tops of them. Pop it in the oven to bake (when thin, you're looking at about 10-15 minutes, so between that and a bit of cooling time you'd want to find something else to do with them) and then paint them, glue on googly eyes or beads or whatever. Thread a ribbon through the hole, and they have something fun to hang up.

Just use the kids bible stories example Jonah - make fish and have them glue Jonah in its belly.
You can make trumpets using toliet paper rolls. For the little babies you could make mobiles using Noahs animals. Have fun with it!! God Bless!

Pick out a simple Bible verse.
Have them come sit on your lap and help you hold the Bible and pretend they are reading to the class (after you have them repeat the verse after you.) They seem to get a kick out of this.
