technically, you really dont have to re-dye the same hair...you are really newly dyeing the new hair underneath that just grew in...

Coz you're only dyeing your hair that has grown so far, when new hair grows, they dye doesn't keep dyeing the new hair, you have to do a touch up on the new growth, about every 4 to 6 weeks to keep it looking good, no one likes the look of re-growth, that's just trashy.

Hair falls out and regrows, it permanently dyes the hair you have on your head at the time but your DNA still carries the characteristics of your natural color.

Color fades eventually.Thats why it is smarter to use semi-perminant.You can even lock in semi perminent color if you bag it and heat it,it will last better and be easier on your hair then permanent. That too is why it is so important to use a color formulated shampoo, and condition.

the color itself doesn't "go away", your roots simply grow it, which means you have to, or rather, should, re-do your color job! "permanent" also means, by hair definition, that it doesn't wash out after so many shampoos... semi-permanent colors wash out after just a few shampoos... hope that helps! have a great day!

It depends on the colour because some lighter colours will not fade but other bright colours will indeed fade causing you to redye it. And yes, also your hair grows.
