My parents were really strict with me growing up. I couldn't wear make-up til I was 17 and I couldn't date til I was 18. After High School I met my husband and now it is 8 years later and he was pretty much my 1st boyfriend. I have a daughter now and I believe that there is no reason for a 12 year old to be dating, they are not even mature enough to take care of themselves, how can with keep together and meaningful and healthy relationship with someone of the opposite sex....? all they will be doing is immature things and hvaing sex without knowing what the hell they are doing and before you know it you will be a grandmother by the time she is 14.....Is that what kind of life you want for your daughter? She is a kid, keep her a kid! Don't help her rush through adolesence and straight to adulthood!

Well, I had a boyfriend at 15 but we weren't allowed to "car date" until I was 16. I think 12 is a little young myself. At twelve, we were just starting to notice boys. It seems like children are dating too young, having sex too early, teenage pregnancy and it just keeps going. Maybe a compromise would be watching movie with parental supervision or going out to eat with family or going ice skating or roller skating with the family or a large group of friends (boys and girls).

I think dating at 14 is fine but if your 1 of them that thinks your 14 and a half then your not ready cause you think yuor so close to 15 so your 14 1/2 if u still think that your 2 young to date or do anything like that

I think that GROUP DATING is fine for a 12 yr. old. Boyfriends NEVER!! LOL, Just kidding 15-16yrs; I say it depends on the maturity of the young lady. Now a days she should be dropped off and picked up till she is 32.

I was 15 years old when i started dating but i wasn't allowed out like at the movies or places. The boy had to come and see me at my moms house where i could be watched.
I think though when you get 15/16 years old that is when anyone should get to date but be supervised.

I was 12 when I had my first "boyfriend" mostly we just walked each other to class and sat together in lunch, the only "date" we went on was a birthday party his parents had for him at the roller rink. We found our own friends and went our seperate ways when we got in to middle school.

I had my first boyfriend when I was 12.
The only real "dates" we went on was with other friends to an amusement park or the mall. It only lasted a month because "ew! i dont want him as my bf anymore!" haha.
But my first serious boyfriend was when I was 18.

I went on my first date at 13, but the guy was the older brother of a classmate, and their father was an administrator at the school.

if she wants to date she will find a way around it if you don't let her.. lay down some ground rules like curfew or group dating.. and make sure you know who she is going with at all times.. get numbers ect.. my parents always had to talk to other parents.. i'd say be on the safe side and do this rather than her sneaking around behind your back.. who knows what kind of trouble she'll get herself into!

16 is a good age, remember they need to be at a marture age to date, that is a serious thing to start, once she grows up, there is no going back. you can always grow more but you cant go back to a little girl. let her be a little girl, however it is ok to let her have a party and invite both boys and girls, and make sure you stay at the party too.
