I'm a female. Nothing is odd when I start to pee, but then when I finish this heavy pressure comes hard against my uretha. It really hurts, and I've never had this before. What could it be?

You might have a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). If the pain continues for over a week, I would recommend you go and see your doctor. Check your pee....if it's bloody, go to the doctor. If it's just really yellow, that means that it's highly concentrated---or you aren't hydrated enough. Make sure that you stay hydrated. I would recommend drinking at least 1 water bottle of WATER an hour. Let me know if you need anymore help.

A UTI (urinary tract infection) can infect the urethra, the bladder, the ureters, and even the kidneys.

When your urine begins to have a strong or foul odor, you should start drinking 8oz cranberry juice morning and night. This should reverse the effect and prevent the infection before it becomes worse. (Flush those bad boys right out!)

Once pain is present, you can drink cranberry juice, or take Azo cranberry tablets. If the problem still persists or becomes worse, you then should see a doctor.

I'll advise against going to the doctor at the first signs of an UTI, because of the side effects from antibiotics. You should always give your body a chance to correct the problem first. However if you have had pain for more than 2 days, a discharge from the urethra, high fever, or cloudy urine then schedule an appointment tomorrow. Pick up the cranberry juice and Azo tablets tonight! I don't think you need to go to the emergency room right now though.

There is a 99% chance you have a UTI as everyone has pointed out. However, the symptoms are just a little different that usual. There are one or two things that though unlikely could also be causing this. Nothing that should send you to the ER in the middle of the night but enough that I think you should see the MD and have your urine looked at. Monday is soon enough. For the long term try to keep the urine a little on the acid side by drinking fruit juice or taking more than 500mg of Vit. C a day. 500 is the limit the body takes in so the extra gets pasted out as an acid compound. Also be sure always to wipe from front to back.

Likely urinary tract infection. This is when the e-coli bacteria (found in our bodies and all over) finds a susceptable urethra (I wish I knew how to make mine resistant - I am still trying new things), and infects it.

If you have a drugstore handy, get a product called AZO or its cheaper generic equivalent. This should take temporary care of the symptoms - and if it does, that will confirm the diagnosis. However, as I said, it only takes temporary care. You will have to go to the doctor to confirm the diagnosis and get the prescription antibiotics. 10 days on the meds and a recheck of your urine should take care of it. I go in Tuesday for my recheck.

It's a simple UTI (urinary tract infection). Call your doctor and get an antibiotic. If your doctor won't do this over the phone, then go to Urgent Care or the ER to get the antibiotic. There is no reason for you to have to continue having this pain.

Monitor the pain, and do not be shy about going to the ER, if you feel it is necessary. Clearly something is wrong.

My amateur opinion is that it could be a bladder infection or an STD, but I'm obviously not a medical professional, so that's a guess at best.

Please take care of yourself.

Hi. I honestly don't know, but I just stopped in because that sounds very scary and I know you need some TLC and comfort. You need a hug and you need to know it is going to be alright. I would make an appointment right away with a good urologist and she can tell you exactly what it is and make it go away. Don't worry. The doctor can help with this fast.
