ok i was having a discussion with my muslim friend about all religions...i was telling him that even tho i am a Roman Catholic i do agree that in the past the church did some stuff that were wrong, but as did other religion for example in Islam the word "Jihad" means eternal war as in was between good and evil within yourself, not war against other people. BUT the problem with relgions, when i say religions i mean ALL, is that the concept is wonderful [ it is there to discipline you and give you a better life] but it is man that ruin it. like the Jihad thing kings used it as a military tactic to kill non-muslims. so my thing is since we know that the concept is good and that we made mistakes in the past why dont we use that to better the futur of every single religon so we can get along more? isnt all we want is harmony among one another? what do you tihnk? thank you!

My doctor was a sufi muslim but is now just a Christian with no official denomination. I would never say he was a bad man. Having said that , there are good and bad people in every religion. And I am sorry but the radicals of every religion will not allow us to all just get along. That is a pipe dream and a delusion. There will be no world peace as long as man and human nature exists. Even without religions, people would find another difference to harp about and we would be at each other's throats again.

Wow, what a good question!

I think you will find that most people with moderate views will agree wholeheartedly with you on this. I think the problem comes with people at the extreme edges of their religion, the fundamentalists, and their belief that their religion is the only true way to God. Unfortunately, many of the fundamentalists are unwilling to allow for the possibility that they might be wrong in their views and allow others the freedom to believe as they will.

I just wish more people thought like you.

You may want harmony, I may want harmony, and many other people may want harmony among one another.
The sad truth however, and one that you are overlooking is the fact that there are also many people out there who do not want a state of eternal harmony. Far from it, they want as much upheaval and anarchy as possible to further their own aims. As long as you have people like that, your fight for harmony is a losing battle. And religion does not come into it.

No, because all religions depend on a certain amount of imposing certain laws on others. We should just each take a piece of land and stop bothering other religions.

When the muslim gets to know the Quran especially the more violent passages of their book the more radical they become. Unfortunately various leaders pickup on these too and we end up with radicalized leader like the one from Iran who wants WAR AND THE DEMOLITION OF ISRAEL AND WESTERN SOCIETY.

There are no easy solutions here.
