The only way to insure a girl is through IVF with PGD (preimplantation genetic dianosis).
You can better increase your chances through a method called Microsort that spins the male's semen in a centrifuge to sort out X and Y sperm. The woman is then inseminated with the sperm carrying the chromosome of the sex they would like to conceive.
As for old wives tales.... Well, the Shettles method has a lot of tips based on timing of intercourse relating to ovulation and the ph balance of the vaginal canal. I don't know if the Shettles method has been proven to actually work, though. IVF and Microsort DO work.

I hear you there. We have 2 girls and want a little boy eventually. I would love to have a little boy or two. I know we are going to try for another baby in the next 2 years. I love the 2 daughters I have more than anything in the world, but still want a boy. They say they want a little brother too. I asked my 2 1/2 year old if she wanted a brother or sister and she said "mommy, I have a sissy, I wana a bubby."

I think any normal woman would feel the urges for a little girl after having 3 boys, Its perfectly normal. My mother had 7 boys before she caught for me, and i was the the only accident! She was taking the pill when she caught for me and was going to have me aborted on the advice of her doctors, because they weren't sure of the complications and abnormalities i would have due to being conceived on the pill. But she wouldn't go through with it because she felt me move for the first time on the morning of the abortion date. She had taken to eating dairy products before she caught for me and wasn't sure why, so I'm not sure if that helped. I'm not saying determination is the only way to eventually getting a girl, but it worked for my mum! good luck!

Theres nothing wrong with that. It's a perfectly normal selfish thing us mothers do secretly, although our main priority is always healthy children. I am pregnant with my third. I have 2 wonderful boys. A third boy would probably be the easist, but the American way is to have a family consisting of both boys and girls!!!

Of course you love your boys but often women want a little girl especially if they've been dressing boys and buying action man for too long ! As a mum of 4 boys though, i have tried and tested all the sex determination theories and they dont work !

u jokin how meny more kids u wanna pop out, no wonder y we paying soo much tax's paying 4 u people.
u like a baby grl it dont work like that u cant decide which sex u get, u got 3 boys already aint that sayin the guy ur wif got more mens gene's then women's.
(good thing i on lower rate tax! plus only half my money is taxed the othe half cash in hand legal cash) **** i reather go 2 prison then pay 4 u 2 do nothing

For my undergrad thesis, I'm researching some theories about why some people have more children of one sex. Actually I haven't done much research on humans but in animals there's a very strong link between body condition, and and social status to having more males. I wouldn't recommend changing your social status : ) , but if you're in good condition (have lots of fat reserves) then my research would suggest that if you're loosing weight while you're trying to conceive it might help you have more females.

no its not wrong I cried for three days when I found out i was having a boy the min I saw him I forgot I ever wanted a girl 12m later I was blessed with my girl and shes a little hell raiser
