There are many efficient methods for remote entombment of arachnids. If it helps try to think of the spider as a person.. the rest should be natural.
Your could try beating it to death with a compliant dwarf.
Personally I have a soft spot for the thrown ice pick, or if a wuss i guess a vacuum extension would suffice.

Well, if you can't get a friend who isn't afraid of them to kill them or if that friend isn't around, you can use a vacuum cleaner with a long hose like my girlfriend does. She is deathly afraid of them and even if she gets up in the middle of the night and sees one on the wall she'll get out the vacuum cleaner and end the spider's life by sucking him into a vacuum cleaner bag full of dust and dirt.

Dont laugh! Ok, so you have a big frikkin spider in your room and you need to get rid of it but you are all alone. Grab your vacuum cleaner and suck the icky thing up the hose then leave it turned on and spray insect killer down after it.... make sure you leave the vacuum on for awhile, i had one climb back out once and it freaked me out!

Over summers I work at Menards and I know we sell sprays for wasps that cover a good distance. I wanna say outside of 15feet. I know that's wasps but check a couple of your local hardware stores: Lowes, Menards, Home Depot, and others to see if they sell something similar for spiders. Happy Hunting.

Use the vacuum. Attach all the hoses and just suck that thing away. It works for me! But be a love and come round and change the bag for me as I'm afraid they will come back to life!

I don't.
Inspired by the late and great Steve Irwin, I race in and pick it up, no matter how "crikeyingly large it is. There beauts, you know".
I plan to wrestle inflatable crocodiles next.

as one person said, wasp spray. It also kills spiders.
Wolf spiders live in my house and I am deathly afraid of spiders, so I use that.
