I have only been on here for ten minutes this evening and i have already read a few answers to questions about eating disorders which are complete crap.
Can we please be a little more careful how we answer to questions relating to eating problems....they are fatal afterall.
I have already read an answer which has told a young lady that anorexics dont make theirselves sick....yes they do not all of them but yes they do. I should know as i have had the problem for over 12 years.
To anyone who has issue i urge you to get help and not to rely on peoples answers here as we are not experts.
I just wish that everyone could love themselves for who that are.
Rant finished

Thank you for a straight forward common sense approach.
Anorexia must first be treated as an emotional or psychological disorder. That is why treating it as a physical problem does not work. The anorexic person will go home and revert right back to the old ways and try to hide it from those who would rush them off to the hospital or clinic for IV treatment.
The emotional cause of it must first be solved or the physical symptoms merely return. And often after the wrong kind of treatment, the anorexic is found dead in their home or apartment.

Point taken.
But let it be known that the "eating disorders crisis" was WAY overblown. The AAUW and some other womens' groups came out with this frantic statement a few years ago that "150,000 American women die each year of eating disorders."
Not quite. It turns out, only about 100 (yes that's ONE HUNDRED) or so women actually die of eating disorders each year in the USA. The 150,000 figure was a misquote from a study which found that "perhaps 150,000" women a year develop an eating disorder." That's not even how many are DIAGNOSED - that's how many may actually HAVE an eating disorder in a given year, and it's just a guess.
The "150,000 dead" figure was readily picked up by gender feminist groups and presented as "evidence" that eating disorders were epidemic, and furthermore, that they were caused by society's unrealisic ideals for women's bodies (naturally, men are at fault ultimately).
While 100 women dying each year of an eating disorder is serious, it's hardly a "crisis." I bet more people die each year slipping in the shower.
Love Jack

Oh my God! Why would you even CONSIDER that? I'm sorry if this seems like I'm lecturing you, but I'm UBERSKINNY and it's not all it's cracked up to be! Actually, that's the understatement of the MILLENNIUM. It just plain SUCKS. There's NO way you can't NOT pass out while you're playing a sport and you're anorexic. Want some advice? THROW AWAY YOUR WEIGHT SCALE AND DON'T EVEN THINK TWICE. I'm SICK AND TIRED of hearing people complain about how "fat" they are and how the "NEED to lose weight" or they'll be fat and ugly forever. Well, I'm SKINNY and ugly. But I'm PROUD of it. If you're really that worried about your weight, talk to your doctor. You don't need to be anorexic to lose weight. You don't need to lose weight quickly. As long as you're healthy, there shouldn't be a problem with you're weight. Talk to your doctor about your thoughts on becoming anorexic and ask if there's anything you can do. DO NOT stop eating. DO NOT skip lunch and dinner. DO NOT eat only lettuce and spinach. DO NOT BECOME ANOREXIC. PERIOD. END OF STORY. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR OR A PARENT OR A TEACHER OR SOMEBODY YOU TRUST! THIS ISN'T HEALTHY! YOU NEED TO TELL SOMEONE ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!

I dont know how difficult an eating disorder can be. But hey, it's all with the mind, if you don't have control of your actions. it just proves you're weak. I'm not saying i'm strong, its just..you know..a mental thing.
