I have an extremely swollen eyelid only on one eye. It is red and puffy all the way up to my brow and underneath my eye. My eye itself is fine but the lid is so swollen I can barely open my eye. What could this be?? Any dry remedies to use that are not liquid or creams? Any idea if it is virus or allergy related? Any names of possible eye conditons would help that I could diagnose myself with.

It may be an allergic reaction, in fact I would put money on it. At this stage you are beyond liquids and creams and into the world of injections and doctors. You need to go see a doctor right way. If you have difficulty breathing (another symptom of a severe allergic reaction) you need to call 911.

Hi Keith, When it comes to eye trouble I would never, ever use just any product. It could be that you have picked up a germ, for example Golden Staff, resulting in conjunctivitis. By the way is very contagious.
Before you go to your Doctor which you must Keith. Bathe the area with cooled boiled water, apply with a clean cotton ball for each area of the eye.. Change pillow cases every day and hot wash them with disinfectant. Use only your own face cloth and towel, also wash those in hot water every day with disinfectant.
Do not share towels, or wash cloths.
Most importantly, SEE YOUR DOCTOR ASAP.

Have you tried the good old fashioned steak on the eye remedy or does that only work for a black eye?

Go here, http://www.eyecaresource.com/conditions/puffy-eyes/ it has information about why eyes swell and how to treat it.

Keith, to me, if it were allergy related, both eyes would be affected. I don't think it is serious but you should see your doc.
