If you go to Salzburg, Austria, I recommend the Sound of Music tour. It is great and the shopping in Salzburg, along with the food, is excellent. The sights of Munich, Germany are great also. There is quite a bit of shopping to do there and quite a few tours around going to historical places.

The skiing in the Alps is awesome but I'm not sure if the slopes really covered yet. (not cold enough) Other than that there's all sorts of sightseeing to be had. Austria is really beautiful. Bring lots and lots of film or memory sticks if that's how ya roll. The Christmas markets are opening soon and I have always loved getting smashed on Gleuwein (wine similar to hot cider) and shopping. Here's a site that'll help ya for Germany. Sorry I don't have one for Austria. http://www.germany-tourism.de Be sure to check out Neuschwanstein. (the one disneylands castle was patterned after) It's breathtaking. Oh and Dave's right. The beer here will knock ya on your but, but what a way to go!! lol
