It depends on how much, over how much time. Your body can metabolize one standard drink, which is a regular can of beer or one ounce of alcohol, per hour. So, the "24 hours" answers the previous answerers have given are almost always wrong, unless you've had 24 drinks.

I've read studies that indicate that it is safe (in a legal standpoint at least) to consume one alcoholic drink an hour and still pass a breathalizer. This doesn't apply when drinking mixed drinks containing numerous shots in them as each shot is considered one drink. Personally, I don't think it's worth the risk of driving if you can help it.

It takes 1 hour for your body to get rid of 1 unit of alcohol(half a beer, small glass of wine or 1 short measure) and I think you are allowed about 4 units in your system before you're over the limit but there are other factors to consider like whether you've eaten or not and also your metabolism.There's also the matter of what sex you are.

24 hours or so is most safe. It might take less or longer for different poeple. it just depends how long it takes the alcohol to leave your circulatory system. It also depends on how much alcohol you have consumed. Therefore, as long as your alcohol level is below the limit you can drive.

P.S. Try not to drink and drive ... no matter what the law states.
Hope this helps.

once you're a common length and weight, the physique metabolises the alcohol at a fee of .0.5 of blood alcohol concentration (BAC) each and every hour. (approximately 5 or so hours for an unlawful .08 bac to pass thoroughly away yet to no longer pass below the unlawful quantity)

It doesn't matter how long. If you're drinking, don't drive PERIOD. It's possible that even one drink is too much to drive.;
