We actually discourage adopters from using wee-wee pads and similar products to house train the dogs. Such things teach the dog to eliminate INSIDE the house, and ideally, you want the dog to go potty OUTSIDE.

To train it to go potty outside, throw away the training pads, and take the dog out about 15 minutes after it eats, right when it gets up in the morning, and right after it wakes up from a nap. Stay with the dog until it goes potty and then praise it a lot for doing its business outside.

My dog had them, usually in the day i had the back door open so he would go in and out through there. In the night while he was a pup he stayed in the kitchen-them mats realy do work!! They have some type of special smell which the dog is atteacted too and then they will urinate there instead of around the house. If you want the dog to go pee in outside-the mat should usually lead the dog to it then slowly and gradually i moved the mat nearer and nearer to the door and eventually outside. Its works my dog never goes in the house no more he rushes outside just as we like !!! Good Luck x-x

although not using them and training your puppy to go outside is best, pads can be useful. when pups are little the physically can't hold it in. so to use the pads - collect a small amount of urine and pour it onto the pad. this makes it smell of the puppy who will soon gather that, that is the place to do it. after the puppy has used it this initial time throw it out and put a clean one down.
together with regular trips outside (after meals, when it wakes up etc) pads can be really useful. hope this helps

Learning how to train your dog will improve your life and hers, enhance the bond between you, and ensure her safety and it can be a lot of fun. Dogs are usually eager to learn, and the key to success is good communication. Your dog needs to understand how you’d like her to behave and why it’s in her best interest to comply with your wishes. The best use is to throw them in the garbage and take your puppy outside to potty. They teach your puppy it is ok to use your house as their bathroom.

when you see the dog going to the bathroom you pick it up and put it in the map and you show your dog not mean but calm over and over again till it gets stuck in its mind.
