just remember with a german car you get the current version of german quality and reliability which is to say less than poor, in the last 8 years or so german cars have been poor excuses for for reliable transport. VW being the worst with excessively lousy materials and poor design, especially plastic parts, [such as the required removal of everything across the front of some models to replace a timing belt, including headlamps grill ac condenser radiator cooling fans DON'T BREAK THE PLASTIC CORE SUPPORT and then still have to do the engine work] the a4 is nothing but a jetta with a funny headlamp switch. all volkswagon products need to go the way of renault . just leave and take your s***boxes with you. Volvo's are still holding up just fine and are still friendly to work on and fun to drive.

Despite everyone else saying the A4 i would recomend the Audi A3. It is more nimble and is much cheaper. If you dont like the looks then i guess i would choose the Audi over the S40 because i think it is overpriced for its size.

I am just partial to Volvo's i have had one for 15 years it is a great car but i would suggest test driving both and you decide, also do your homework on the two car's.Colorado is a beautiful mile high city i lived in Aurora for awhile then i moved near Lawry's air force base near Denver where i worked downtown on Wyandot St.Anyway good Luck with your choice.

Depends. Most people would buy Audi. It is more popular. But Volvo is not bad too because the design for the S40 is pretty good and safe. - Volvo saved a lot of people... But S40 is a bit small... I would buy S80... if choosing Volvo sedan or RS4 if choosing Audi sedan...

no question. An Audi.
Do you know the safety raitings for a S40? those things are like little bugs on the street.
You can get all the safety gear and put it into a compact car such as the S40. but weight matters. the more weight in a car, the safer you are in a head-on (the worst type of crash)
