At my school we draw "secret names" so that we can support a co worker throughout the year. My person does cat rescues and I was wondering what is something that she would use a lot of and need more of (besides food and kitty litter)?
Would she need blankets? What about cat toys? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You could make periodic small anonymous donations to her account at her veterinarian's office to help cover at least a little bit of all of the medical costs she incurs. Most rescuers carry a balance, and struggle to pay it down. The staff will be happy to keep it a secret for you (deal with only one person to decrease the chances of anything 'slipping'.) The next time she gets to the front desk to pay her bill, they'll smile and tell her she's the recipient of an anonymous gift for all her hard work. She'd appreciate that a lot, I promise. She'll be very surprised, and touched that someone thought of that.

Food and kitty litter would always be welcome, of course. I doubt blankets or cat toys would be of much use to her. (Cats don't need blankets the way dogs do, and the best cat toys in the world are already free....paper sacks, wadded up paper, etc.) How about a few tubes of hairball preventative?

One of the cheapest things you could do to support her that would also be greatly appreciated..... Send her a card in the mail (no return address), saying something like, "We think you are one of our greatest peoples, and we love you for helping us. You are the cat's meow. Purrrrrrrrrr." <---(I'd be more creative, but I just woke up from a nap, lol.) 'Sign' it with several kitty pawprints (a stamp, or even better.....use several different real paws from different-sized cats.) The card alone will be treasured by her, but you could also include some cash or a small gift, like cat earrings or a cat necklace/pin, etc. (If you see her wearing them, you'll feel all warm and fuzzy inside because you'll know for sure that she got the card.)

Lots of ways to help, and have fun with this at the same time! :-)

I think toweling is always useful. Sometimes rescued cats are sick or need soft bedding that is easily washable. Pet stores has fleecy little mats that are washable too. One might run around $20. I have some I am still washing after almost eight years of use and they are as good as new.

If she is getting cats "fixed", giving cats shots, worming etc. any donation of money or gift certificate from the clinic she uses would be greatly appreciated as this is frequently the highest expense a rescuer has.

I am sure she will appreciate any thoughtful gift you can make to her and the cats.

they sell cute little gift baskets for pet showers and things, like youd find in the people department, Shampoo, bubble bath, nail scrubbers, combs, cute little gift packages, i would go check your local petsmart or try it online, there really are a lot of cute little things you could find.. Try searching under "cat lover gift bag ideas" They are fairly cheap you could get few. And the girl who said about the poles would be great also tho if shes in need of toys.. But most people cant afford all the stuff it takes to care for the cats.

I'm sure she could use a gift card for your local pet supply store, such as Petco or Petsmart. If you really want something she'll appreciate, offer to foster a cat for a month. :)

And remember that rescuers are women (or men) too. If she's the sort of person who enjoys flowers, they're nice surprise.

A really BIG dog!

Seriously, how about some help with Vet bills? Or paying for the cost of medications? I'm sure she would be more than appreciative.

Perhaps you could get her kitty poles. They are covered in carpeting and the cats can climb them and lay on shelves that come off the poles.
