See if Paris Hilton is still available. She could be a good match and has certainly inherited enough to support bothyou and her.

Oh I just love the first two answers, "welfare" and "get a job". I am sorry you are in that situation and unfortunately I see no easy solution for you. I would learn who my elected officials are and I would take advantage of having a computer to write them and tell them your situation. It is extremely hard to exist, I understand that, but unfortunately the uneducated public, like the first two answers, has screamed so loud about "their tax dollars" that necessary programs and funding has been cut. The money went SOMEWHERE, as it will, but it stopped "trickling" down shortly after the Reagan administration coined that asinine term.
EDIT: Oh that's just great, with the answers posted so far I'll be here all night correcting your obvious insanity. The man lives on disability. If he is just collecting straight SSI the standard of living is $600 a month. If he is collecting SSDI he may receive slightly more, this is based on a persons work history and their work credits, but it rarely amounts to more than $900 a month. Obviously, if he is only collecting the $600 he will not have enough for an apartment let alone the utility bills. He can get subsidized housing but the waiting list is very long. I personally know someone that has been on the list for 6 years, they recently were moved to 289 on the list. In some states such as Illinois, there is a "spendown" for the medical card. The person I referred to has a "spendown" of $240 a month. And someone with a major disability is going to need to see a Doctor. So they must take the remaining check of $360 and pay their rent and their utilities and also in some states, like Illinois, the food stamp allotment for someone "making" $600 a month is $64 a month. Their rent under subsizdized housing is 30% of their income, in this case, $180 a month. So from the remaining that leaves a balance of $180. We still have not even to have begun paying utilities, presciption copays, telephone, car, gas, ( and please don't tell them to take public transit, most smaller cities and towns DO NOT have it) car insurance, household products, personal hygiene products, clothing, and FOOD. I could go on. NO ONE WANTS TO LIVE IN ABJECT POVERTY. And some people can't work. I won't even begin to tell you the nightmares of dealing with agencies that you are applying for assistance with. I won't even begin to tell you what happens if you do make a little extra money. If you can't see the nightmare in the above scenario then you are too blind to see anything. But don't try to get disability for it....cause it won't be happening.
Back to the asker
So I am so sorry, but tell your elected officials just HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS TO BE POOR. Tell them you want to work but you can't and then tell them when you do work you are apt to become ill again AFTER your disability is cut.
Good luck to you.
Peace.

Apparently the majority of people answering this question have no idea what it is like to live with a disability and try to survive on the benefits you get.For those who say "get a job",what is it about disability don't you understand?I'm sure most of us who receive disability would love to work, but we can't,hence getting disability benefits.I worked as nurse for over 20 years before becoming disabled,I miss it every day.Have some compassion, you may be there yourself one day
Now to answer your question. You should qualify for assistance with your rent. You will probably have to move unless your present landlord will accept the state assistance. You may also be able to qualify for food stamps. Some states also offer help with paying your medicare premium if you are low income. My best advice is to contact your local assistance office and ask them what help might be available to you.Good luck to you.

I'm going to give you the most unpopular answer.
First of all, poverty is a curse, its not a decision, or luck it really is a spiritual curse. The solution give your life to Jesus, renounce the curse of poverty, Seek Gods will for your life and contend for it. find a Spirit filled church. Trust me your life will be much better than living in poverty. There's nothing wrong with disability and welfare, those are tools to help you. If you have patience and faith, you can overcome this situation and be a productive citizen of society and eventually make a comfortable living. Or you you can accept you're situation and live the rest of your days in your current situation.

Like the rest of us, you work with what you have. Either you give up and demand welfare from the government, or you man up and take advantage of the skills you do have. And you do have skills.
At the very least, you can mow lawns, wash cars, paint houses, trim trees, anything to make money. Or you can make something to sell; burritos, cookies, car covers, etc, anything your imagination can muster. The next thing is to live in an area that you can afford. You are lucky enough to live in a place that allows you to be as rich as you want to be.

Simple really, stay out of debt or most of your money will go in interest. Save 10 grand put it in a high interest account and forget it while living w/in your means and still adding a given amount monthly to your savings. If you choose the criminal route you won't be able to enjoy dirty money and sooner or later you'll get caught and become a member of the criminal underclass who have look up to people living straight w. dignity in what is after all 1st world 'poverty' which is virtually rich compared to 3 quarters of the planets population!

You sound like you're trying to blame us for your misery.
If you can't afford the lifestyle you want at the salary you could make, then yes, a criminal is hte profession for you. But if you get caught, you'll have even less to enjoy in jail.
So, I suggest you get yourself in a training program, get some skills, go to school, and be your best. And learn to live within your means

The first thing you need to do is stop feeling sorry for yourself. Then get busy. Do you have your high school diploma? If not find evening classes and get it. If you do get to a junior college and get started improving your education. You will probably qualify for financial aid in the forms of loans and grants. Take them and make good use of them. Yes you will have to work while going to school so you must search for less expensive housing. Shop discount stores for groceries and clothes. But if you are brave and can keep on keeping on you will succeed. Graduate from college and then the future will be yours. This will not be easy but you can do it I have faith in you.

Derek, First of all, pray for God"s help and guidance. Ask him to lead you to a good bible believing church. Attend each Sunday and arrange to have a consultation with the pastor. They can and will help you. Also, try to think of ways to make your money go further; such as shopping at Thrift stores. Also, go to the department of social services and apply for food stamps, until you can do better. God is the answer, Derek. I promise he will help you. Have faith and believe and do all that you can to help yourself. Good luck. Dona G.

Hard work and dedication. Sorry, that's not a fast/quick cure. You obviously have the capability to type and put words together well, start your own online business. Why have someone hire you for low pay when it's up to you what you make? It can be done, we are doing it ourselves, very successfully! Good luck.
