Change your attitude. Seriously, it's all about attitude. If you feel bad about yourself that is how others are going to see you, as someone with low self-esteem. Be happy, be outgoing, make yourself approachable, and don't be shy about approaching people & just starting a conversation about the weather.

You get your confidence up, by experiencing some success. You will experience success, by trying and risking failure, instead of just assuming you can't do something. It is also essential that you have realistic objectives.
There is one other factor. Have you ever wondered how a good salesman can have 100 doors slammed in his face, and still approach that next one, expecting to make a sale?
Your self image is determined by every experience you have ever had, real or imagined. If you experience one rejection, and replay the event in your mind 100 times, you have just been rejected, not once, but 100 times. On the other hand, if you replay a positive event 100 times, that counts in your favor.
Learn from your mistakes, but don't dwell on them. If rejection is the problem, consider all the times someone has responded favorably to you. Count your blessings, even if it is difficult.

Buy some clothes that make you feel confident. Maybe one or two shirts or blouses. Be around successful people. You need to have a positive attitude and being around people who are go-getters will motivate you!
-Organize your schedule. Focus on where you want to be in five years. Stop procrastinating and whining. Confident people always see a solution to a problem.
-Always think that you will be successful soon! Negative people always whine about how come they have to do things and why bad things happen to them.

Do things that will make you feel good about yourself. Get rid of any people that are negative towards you. Have a spa day just do things that will make you feel good about you.

Since you know their is a problem, them you have to work on yourself, go to the library and get books on improving yourself, or how to build your self esteem, they also have tapes, Now start to work on you!
