i'm 14 years old and in high school. i need to get some community service hours so it'd look good on college applications. Where should i volunteer?

How about an animal shelter? They always need dog walkers, people to play with and socialize the cats and kittens.

I'm 15 and what I do i go to the local military hospital and volunteer under the American Red Cross. It doesn't have to be a military hospital (it can be any for that matter) but the Red Cross offers some really good programs.

Although I dislike the idea of mandatory volunteer hours (you should volunteer because you want to help people, not because you have to- and certainly not because you want the glory) here are a few ideas: seniors home, parks and rec, children's groups, camps, hospital, in your school, etc etc.

~Become a friend to an elderly person at a retirement home.

~Become a reading tutor at a local elementary school.

~Offer to read to pre-schoolers at a local pre-school or daycare.

~Volunteer at your local hospital.

~Local animals shelters and SPCAs always are looking for volunteers.

Church always has groups that you can help and they are organized to document that.

Nursing homes activity director is another person you can contact and since you are near th holidays, they really can use some help.
