What can I do for this back pain besides take pain killers? Having large breasts and a small body really takes a toll on my back, I've taken every pain killer in the book- it isn't working. Are their some exercises or somewhere that I can go to help me? A breast reduction is not in my financial future, so that is out of the question. I really need some kind of relief, it even hurts as I type. Advice please...

A lot of presumptions here. I presume you are referring to mid back or thoracic pain between your shoulder blades up toward the base of your neck.

Back pain is not a diagnosis, just a symptom. The best method of treatment is to treat the cause of a problem not the symptom. Are you absolutely certain that the cause of your back pain is biomechanical from the large pull of your chest?

Another presumption here but are you over ideal body weight? A general weight loss may be a po gals breast reduction.

If you have access to a swimming pool, consider swimming around as it exercises all muscles and spine muscles in particular. You may kill two birds by exercising to loose weight as well.

I agree with a few of the other folks here, if a plastic surgeon can prove to an insurance company that your breasts are causing pain and disfunction then it may be covered. Even medical assistence insurance at a teaching hospital my cover a plastic surgical correction.

In the interim, you may consider ice or heat which ever feels better for your back. Gentle stretching and massage will also give you some relief. An anti-inflammatory like aleve or advil will be better than acetominophen for your biomechanical spine pain.

I wish you well but you need to see a physician, insurance or not.

I can sympathize with your back pain. Mine is in my lower back and pains shooting down both of my legs. I know pain pills aren't the answer too. Really you need a good physical check-up. Then you can rule certain things out and the doctor will know how to treat you. I got a cat-scan on my back for the back pain; and also my head, because of migraines. I have a bulging disc on the lower part of my back. Almost on the hip bone. So I kinda know you feel. Good Luck and God's speedy recovery.

Yes, there are a lot of really good yoga exercises that do wonders for your back. They work two ways, by both strengthening and toning your back muscles so that they can deal with the weight better, and by relaxing them so that pain from overworked muscles and improper alignments is eased. I had a lot of trouble with my back too, but yoga exercises did the trick almost immediately, and the ones I found online weren't difficult to do (I'm not very limber and I was in pain, and I managed them). Google yoga and back pain, and you should find some good sites where you can learn some of those kinds of exercises for free.

Try to save for the reduction. Pain meds are hard on you long term. You might try asking at a university medical school if they could do the breast reduction.

Also try taking cayenne pepper capsules twice daily. They help with joint pain. And if you are any overweight, lose some because the breasts hold a lot of fat.

Seriously, three things have helped me:

1. Sleep on the floor.
2. Exercises for your back, including what I've heard called superman curls: get on your stomach and left your arms and legs off the floor, good for the back. Don't forget to do back stretches afterward.
3. See a chiropractor. I found out I had a displace rib head that he put back in place, helped immensely.

No Side Effects and No Complications,100% relief and Homeopathic remedies are not expensive rather low priced.

You can try clinical massage therapy. If you can't lay on your stomach they can do it while you're lying on your side, but you really might want to consider breast reduction surgery. Talk to your doctor.
