The orginal cowboys were Vacqueros and were Mexicans. Most of the Cowboys learned their trades from them. Most Western States have living and working cowboys. It is a fiction that they are only from the Southwest, the largest working ranch was located near Sunnyside, Washington prior to WWII, it was taken by the Army to use as a training ground. Montana still has a cowboy tradition, as does Eastern Washington, Oregon, Wyoming and Utah.

Cowboys are originally from Mexico.

When Texas and California were part of Mexico, any Quaker or Pilgrim knew Cowboys.

What is your point? truly whatever your on ya need to share with the rest of us.I live in tx and i've seen both white/black/mexican and all types of guys dress like cowboys.heck the tight wranglers alone are the sole reason why I haven't moved from here.and truly don't see what's so funny about them dressing like that.I'm sure most of them would still dress the same wherever they went to.My guess is you don't get out much and therefore don't meet a lot of different people.Just one word of advice, try and never visit tx because if you do and started laughing at someone who was dressed like a cowboy regardless of what ethnicity they were, then yeah my guess is you would be strapped to the hood of their truck like a deer ornament.

Cowboy culture is originally from Mexico. As the person above me rightly says, it originated on the days when the southern states were part of Mexico.

So why do you it is called Rodeo? Rodeo is a spanish word that means to sorround.

Drive 20 minutes straight into Mexico and look around...

it's the beginning of thousands of ranches and farms...

the clothes you saw them wearing were probably from home... where they either own property or work on a family ranch.

More likely, if it was a situation where it was appropriate to assimilate, they would have been wearing baseball caps, levis, etc...

The partially buttoned shirt sounds kinda "Disco", doesn't it ?
