Those who live by the sword die by the sword.
Thou shall not kill.
Of course Jesus also said: "I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword"

No, it is not wrong. There is a special Christian song, called: Onward Christian Soldiers. Australia is a wonderful Country. There was a special man from Australia, who wrote a great tribute in regards to America. He had special Respect for what America has done. I think it would be Great to be called an Australian Christian Soldier. Take care and may God bless and keep you, Always !

If you are serious about the answer then these scriptures will help.
Matthew 5:43 “YOU heard that it was said, ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 However, I say to YOU: Continue to love YOUR enemies and to pray for those persecuting YOU; 45 that YOU may prove yourselves sons of YOUR Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous. 46 For if YOU love those loving YOU, what reward do YOU have? Are not also the tax collectors doing the same thing? 47 And if YOU greet YOUR brothers only, what extraordinary thing are YOU doing? Are not also the people of the nations doing the same thing?
John 17:15 “I request you, not to take them out of the world, but to watch over them because of the wicked one. 16 They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world. 17 Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth.
Exodus 20:13 “You must not murder.
As for the future of all of the worlds governments the bible continues;
Daniel 2: 44 “And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite.
If a person chooses to fight as a soldier for one of the worlds governments the bible is very clear about their outcome. I hope this helps.

Why would it be wrong? I'm not overly religious but if you really believe in the "will of God" than as most military preachers will tell you, God puts our leaders(military and political) for a reason and to not do as they wish, would be the same as disobeying God. However in my own opinion as a soldier, I guess it depends on your job in the military. There are many non-combat jobs in the military(including chaplains assistant). I have yet to run into any situation where I have ever been asked to do anything unethical in the entire 5 years I've been in. The only time you ever hear of anything that has been done like that, it's always linked to an military police investigation.

It sure is wrong ! Jesus said that the identifying mark of a Christian would be that they would have love among themselves.
In the second world war in the US the Catholic bishops were blessing the troops to go kill the Germans and the Catholic bishops in Germany were blessing the troops to go kill the Americans. People are blinded by their national pride and their misguided religious beliefs.I Isaiah it says that people { Christians}would beat their swords into pruning sheers and learn war no more. God is not for any special country!! Churches would have you believe that though just like the rest of the falsehoods they teach. Jesus Himself said that that would happen after He was gone.
I will not ramble on friend. Hope I helped. E mail me if you would like for more info

No it isn't wrong. Christians have been fighting for years. In fact, they came up with a song, "Onward Christian Soldiers". Join the Army. You will have fun, learn so much and come out a better person.

Depends what you do. It's everybody's job to promote world peace. So being a soldier does not necessarily mean you have to kill someone. Just try and avoid that. Though sometimes you are forced into those situations

No Sir, the bibles pretty specific about what is expected of us soldiers:
A)Don't lie to the authoritys when asked.
B)Obey your officers and those over you.
C)Don't complain about your low pay.
The bible does NOT say "You shall not kill". Thats a very bad translation. What the bible says is "you shall not MURDER"- that is, premediated homicide.
Defense of the homeland is a God given right, and some might even say responsiblility. Good Luck

I tihnk it's wrong, if Christians really follow the New Testament. However, there's a loophole, which Christians, including George W. Bush use as an excuse for killing- "God is on our side."

No it isn't. As long as you behave in a Christian way of course... Just remember the ten commandements, one of them is Thou shall not kill. So if you're following commands from upper echellons, you face a disjonctive between obeying those Christian commandements of face court martial.
