I've seen NYC from the Empire State Building and the sadly lost WTC. I've also been to the Met rooftop garden. I hear Rockefeller center now has a new observation deck, but I'd really like a chance to see the NY skyline from a more uncommon location, especially at night. Perhaps a bar/restaurant where photography is allowed. Your recommendations would be appreciated.

Take the L train one stop to Williamsburg. This puts you in Brooklyn opposite 14th Street, Manhattan. Most of the buildings are industrial and have roof top access. My brother lives there and every year we have the best seats in the house to view the Forth of July fire works. If you give me your email address I will send you some snap shots of Manhattan's sky line.

Another great location is Vernon Blvd, Queens. You'll find a great pier here opposite 33rd Street, Manhattan. I don't know how you can gain roof access (maybe the Citi Bank has an observation deck????), but this is another great location.

Both areas are quite and will give you peace to concentrate on your art.

Hi,

As an ex-Jersey girl who lived and loved the view from the Jersey side, try Union City, Weehawken, Jersey City, Hoboken, River Edge, etc. Ride along River Road north towards the Palisades Parkway, and you'll have gorgeous views.

Here are some links to restaurants on the river.

Try the Jersey side of the Hudson, the walks over the George Washington and Brooklyn Bridges.
Also try from Roosevelt Island
