Depends on how much hair the 2 year old has (how thick & how long) and if it's a girl or a boy! ;-)

I'm just waiting for my daughter to have enough hair to do something with it! I tried to put a little barrette on the side, and while it was very cute for about 10 minutes she then got it out of her hair and tried putting it in her mouth. *Sigh* No more barrettes...
I'm assuming you have a girl: Pigtails are adorable. Either a full one on either side or just the top half of the hair. Tiny braids sporadically throughout the hair. Barrettes. Headbands. Not sure what else. Does your child sit still for you to do things to it? From the way things are going I dont think my daughter will.

My little girl is 16 months and just beginning to have enough hair to do something. I have all kinds of clips and hair ties and stuff. Just be creative. But dont put baby oil in your baby's hair. I saw someone else advise to do that to prevent knots. Do not do it, it will dry out her hair. Just buy one of the many kinds of tangle spray they sell in the store.
Have fun!!!

My daughter has curly hair. I use a detangler, and then pull ths sides into an elastic ponytail holder. Or I make 1 ponytail on each side (very cute also.)

My daughter's hair is very curly so her normal style is pulled back with an elastic headband.

If your daughter has straight/wavy hair I think wearing it down with the front pulled to one side in a barrette is darling.

I get my son's hair buzzed really short. He looks so cute. Now that it's getting cooler, I'm going to grow it out for a while. He'll be 3 next month

Don't use barretes and pins that might poke. Put baby oil so that his/her scalp and hair have nutrients and don't get as many knots. I say get headbands or a hair-cut that is short enough to just let loose.
