Leave off the Greenies until he is much older..You will need a harness and leash..
You will need a small Kong toy, to keep him from eating your furniture.
Also a bottle of Bitter Apple spray..
.If his is long coated, a bottle of tangle ease will help, and/or a spritzer bottle to dampen his hair as you brush it, to keep hair from breaking.
Baby wipes for face and feet and bottom. Paper towels.
If he is short haired, he will need sweaters.
A GOOD training book.
First aid kit.with first aid handbook. .with betadine, vet wrap, and bandanna or gauze.
Q-tips and cotton balls. dog nail clippers. Activated charcoal and Ipecac, (in case of poisoning) Kaopectate, NutreCal , Pedialyte.
Sterile water (for eye cleaning and eye injury)
You are SO wise to think ahead!! Your dog is so lucky to have a really devoted and responsible owner..
A family came to pick up a 10 week old Doberman puppy. They didn't even bring a leash or collar, and were taking him home in a convertible car, with the top down, for over 100 miles! Geeeesh! Yep, your dog is lucky!

I'd scratch the Greenies. Dogs love them, but they have a bad history. The other thing is an ID tag, and a microchip. Try the rawhide slowly. I have dogs that get diarherria (or however you spell it) from rawhide. You didn't mention dog food. My preference is a high grade lamb and rice easily digestible and less poop to pick up. Kibble, rather than canned to keep their teeth cleaned. If you are planning to do your own grooming, you'll also need something to trim toenails with. If it's a little dog and you live in a cold weather climate he might need a sweater of some kind. Find out about training classes. Clicker training is the latest, or puppy classes. The only time I've used water spray is if I'm in the middle of a dog fight. It should be used only to break their concentration so that you can then use other training techniques.

Put back the greenies... like rawhides and other types of treats that don't get completely chewed up, they can cause intestinal bockages and things like that.
You'll need a collar, leash, possibly a harness, tag with you phone # for the collar, coat if it is a small breed and you live somewhere cold, nail clippers if you won't be takeing them to the groomers...

My ex' s pug... and the stuffed animals! Do you spend 5 bucks on a toy that you know your kid will break in the car before you get home? ... and we all don't spoil our pets!.. anyways, her pug.. HATED squeakers, and old people. He tear the squeakers out of the stuffed animals. He knew were to look, the dog was smart, he put the new stuffed animal on the ground and use his big flat nose and go over the entire stuffed animal. The first week was usually devoted to removing all the squeakers... umm due to his facial features, usually took him a while. Then after all the squeakers were gone, the second week was devoted to removing every bit of stuffing some poor Chinese kid put relentless effort into stuffing the animal. Then the third week.... ahhhh bits and shreds of what remains of the previous overpriced toy....

Chew sticks, or rawhide bones. I have a 6mnth old puppy and he
loves them. When I catch him chewing on something he shouldn't be I give him one of these and he loves it. Also some kind of squeaky toys, he loves those to. What about a collar and a
leash? Other than that looks like you have it covered. He should
be a happy boy. Good luck to you.

Well about your method of disciplining him, don't do the spray bottle thing. Puppies and dogs don't understand what is wrong or right, and when you spray them with a spray bottle it just confuses them and scares them. It doesn't teach them anything. Try using positive reinforcement instead. Obviously, don't ever hit or abuse your dog, but the spray bottle thing won't work. If it really gets bad, take the dog to a trainer. And don't get the dog from a pet store!

Please don't give your dog the Greenies - they're dangerous!!! Find a few other safe things for him to chew on. Also, spraying a young puppy is definitely not a great way to train! You're teaching him he can't trust you.

Sounds as tho your dog already has a treasure trove, surprising what a dog doesn't need.Ihave had three very happy and friendly dogs in my lifetime and all they really desired was love and attention.Don't spoil him/her too much. It's very difficult to retrain a spoilt animal,a lot like a child.just make sure it knows who owns who.
