I was most recently brainwashed about a friend, one I REALLY trusted, and would hear no evil against. But alas I turned out to have been mislead, brainwashed....well, maybe not quite 'washed' just rinsed alittle. But I got over it. (;p) On a more serious note, I had a friend who was caught up in Scientology, and it was a very bad scene getting out. I knew another who was so caught up in D&D that I thought his entire young adult life would pass him by before he got over it.

Years ago, I was so enamoured with the study of logic, reason, philosophy and psychology that for me matters of faith seemed innately inferior. But as I studied in these areas I realized that all of these philosophies and ideas were in essence based on nothing more substancial than faith. These studies had become idols for me. It was liberating to realize that I was intellectually free to choose, and that my choice of faith was as intellectually legitimate as someone elses choice of scientific method.

Hoping the best for you...

Given the above answers, I am sure brainwashed people have no idea they are brainwashed. That's why it can happen to them.
