I've tried putting things in the cage for her to hide behind and lay her eggs but she'l lay her eggs, sit on them for about 3 days and then leave them. Then i tried seperating the male from the female because i read somewhere that that helps but it hasn't obviously helped. Anyone got an ideas?

Button quail are not known for hatching their own eggs. Every breeder of them I know has an incubator. You can buy the cheap ones ($30 at Farm & Fleet) and they will work as long as you supply humidity.

If you are pretty set on them raising their own, and not incubating, set up baskets on the floor. Inside the baskets put plenty of nesting material, and even cover the top with something that offers privacy.

Typically button quail are not kept as cage birds. They are usually loose in the aviary eating the seed and whatnot that the other birds kick out on the floor! That's where we had ours when we had them. (Our new breeding facility is a little too clean for them now, so we sold out on them a while back)

Good luck

Quail very rarely incubate their own eggs in captivity, I suggest you purchase an incubator and brooder and once the baby's start to develop hardy feathers and are of a decent size let them in with the adults.

You might want to have a dark private place inside the cage and have the cage in an isolated room where all is quiet. This might encourage her to stay calm on her eggs until they hatch.

you do not continually must have an incubator, in case you do not have one you should use storage bin and a heatlamp, decrease the norms off bottles shop them finished of water and use Styrofoam decrease circles to Barkley over lap the bottom bottle and positioned the egg there and wala home made incubator!! this may sound humorous i'm 13 and am attempting this myself!

Get an incubater. They aren't that expensive.
