I am like that too, I have always taken awful pictures, however, I am attractive "in person." My daughter on the other hand takes gorgeous pictures,...they are very flattering and actually accentuate her to the point she looks much better in pictures!

It all has to do with the camera. Have you ever heard the saying, "the camera loves her/him?" It is true.

Oh my God I have had this problem all my life, and thought I was soo alone. I feel depressed as I dont know the "truth" am I ugly or pretty? I just dont know and feel I dont know how people see me and that is the worse thing. When I look in the mirror I always think I look nice, but I think I look like a monster that no one could ever like in real life. I just wish I knew the "real" me, and I am trying to believe the nice version, although it is hard when I see God awful pics of someone that no one could ever like. I think of my ex boyfriends and think that is why it is over cos I am so grotesque, and it must have been hard for them to show me affection and also I should be grateful for anytime they ever gave
to an ugly disgusting parasite like myself and I dont deserve to be loved ever again. So yes I sure as hell understand what you are going through.

each and every reflect is slightly fallacious. It relies upon on the thickness of the glass, the age of the reflect, and the way it is fixed. The thicker the glass, and the more recent the reflect, the purifier the mirrored image will be. in case you're taking a cheap door reflect from purpose and mount it on the wall with a mild bump in the middle at the back of it, you've a fat reflect, because the photo is pulled to the middle. in case you position the bumps on each and every end, it's going to be a skinny reflect. in case you want to seem your perfect, regardless of the reality, I in a number of of situations advise using an older reflect that is reasonably thick. the coloration isn't so silver - it is extra champaign, so that you've an outstanding tone. Tone down the lighting fixtures slightly - and - voila!

I have to say, that I have the same problem.

I'm sure its psycological, somehow...

My husband usually assures me that I really do look better in person - or like the day the pic was taken, or whatever.

I did have some great professional pictures taken once, so it IS possible to look good on film...I think some of us, just need somebody who knows what they are doing to bring out our best.

If you think you are pretty in the mirror, you probably are...especially if other people respond to you as if you are pretty.

Dont worry too much, and if you are trying to get a good picture of yourself, try a professional photographer...

Good luck!

I used to think that I was the only one with that issue! I love the way I look in the mirror, but I hate the way I look in pictures. I think that the way light reflects has a lot to do with it. Do what I did. Take pictures in different lighting. Heck, go to Glamour Shots if you really want a boost of confidence. It worked for me.

When you are looking in the mirror, you are not as self-conscious and therefore you look more natural to yourself. When you take a picture, you are more conscious of everything, and sometimes people tend to distort their features slightly when they have a little anxiety about being photographed. Relax. Deep breaths will help, and closing your eyes until just before you take the photo.

It has to do with reflected light and how that light accentuates you in the mirror and in pictures. Don't worry about it. If you feel good about how you look that's all that matters.
