start 2 show more affection by just simply walking towards you and sitting on your lap most times randomly or wanting to be petted by you more often or sorta greeting you by meowing and coming towards you wen you come home because my cat started doing this more often about since two or 3 months ago and shes almost 9yrs old now and when she was younger she didn't do that as much, actually she barely did those kind of things so often, and at times I would be the one to have to go to her more often than she did to me., but now not so much.

I know that this is probably the way that most cats show affection towards you.

Kittens are very wild and playful, and may not be as affectionate as cats older than a year.

I don't think this is something that older cats do, but cats in general.

I think your right; it comes with age. when theyre a younger they want to play and check everything out. As they get older they slow down a bit and want to just lay down, be petted and eat. Some cats are talkative; I have 3 and one of them loves to talk - he has to be the center of attention. I went to barnes & noble and got some books on cat behavior and it really helped alot; you should consider that... did you know cats communicate to each other by body languge?

Yes its true my 11 year old male cat wasn't very affectionate when he was younger and now he always wants to be on my lap for a cuddle. He's on my lap right now while I'm typing this.

My brother had a cat who passed away aththe ripe old age of 21..my son had a cat who passed away at age 13 and another at age 15. They were always cuddly ...friendly cats so I didn't notice any difference in them.

But I do notice that if the cat is sick all they seem to want to do is cuddle.

It depends on the personality, but when I had older cats, they are not as active, and preferred the whole companionship thing more. Plus they wanted to feel loved and accepted more. Can relate them to older family members in a nursing home, just want to know that they are still appreciated and loved.

I had a cat that was very unfriendly til about that age, so I guess there could be some truth to it.
I never heard of it before tho--I figured she just mellowed with age like cheese!!
