Several, 1. It is addicting with a withdrawal syndrome-headaches (migrane intensity), cravings, shakes and so forth. As it is a simulant (same drug catagory as nicotine, strychnine and cocaine) it will cause a reverse of its chemical reaction on withdrawal-you will crash and crash hard. The longer that one uses this, on a consistant basis, the worse the withdrawal syndrome can be. 2. As it is a stimulant it causes vasoconstriction-it causes the blood vessels to contract and become smaller, this causes the heart to beat faster and work harder to get blood where it needs to go. This also raises blood pressure. 3. One of the reasons behind why many use caffine is that it increases alertness. This is in some cases not true-you are still exhausted, but unable to sleep and alertness suffers as a result. 4. It increases activity levels, this is not always a good thing. 5. It can decrease feelings of hunger-this is why many diet pills use caffine in their active ingrediants area-if you are already underweight this can be deadly over the long term. 6. Long term usage can result in shakes, nerviousness, anxiety and so forth. 6. It affects mood and emotions-gives a false feeling of well-being.

Researchers believe that caffeine does not promote disease; however, there are some minor downfalls that the average consumer does need to know about caffeine. Caffeine can be harmful: to people on certain medications, by causing insomnia if consumed at night, or by causing upset stomach. For the majority of the population caffeine is not harmful, but for the minority, being aware of caffeine consumption is important.

Just from personal experience it gets me a bit strung out. It prevents me from sleeping properly. There is sometimes a high, then a low phase. I think a lot of coffee drinkers go through this but may not necessarily recognize that it's due to the caffeinne. You get all hyper immediately after drinking it, then later in the day you get sort of drained and sad.

This is why I never drink coffee unless someone has gone out of their way to get me a cup and decaf wasn't available, and it's not late in the day.

I hate caffeine.

Well, from past experience, it is addictive to many people who can't make the day without it. I have known pepsi holics, and coffee holics in my family. They didn't die early, but just could not get along without it affecting their life considerably
